Most billionaires make money with capital gains not income.

A 2% tax on millionairs would not hit billionaires too much, it would hit the people that run their business.

For example, the owner of the New York Knicks would probably not be affected by the tax.

But all the Knicks players would be.

Guy probably thinks having coffee in a NYC cafe is something an XY person brags about.

No, we're not full. Come on down and bring the exotic cultures with you. But leave the American New Yorker culture there.

The scuttlebutt going around today is that she wanted to run for Senate and Trump refused to support her. She has to peel her MAGA supporters off to be able to win a primary against someone with Trump backing, and the only way to do that is to introduce them to the real world again.

One part of The Present Crisis I still don’t really understand is just how public all of the bullshit is. The satire is more Three Stooges level of sophistication than Ianucci…but Trump is like Walter White, he keeps getting away with it. It feels that Hulu show, Jury Duty, and everyone here is the poor bewildered non actor in the middle.

    Stock options, so not income.

He gets it if TESLA grows to be a 5 trillion market cap.

That would make millionaires of multiple TSla stock holders, all capital gains.

It is compensation, so isn't it income? Musk (or any CEO or stockholder) can borrow against stock to buy things like yatches or planes or other companies, so it does have a taxable value, probably not at 100%, but that loophole is exactly what is creating the wealth gap distortion.

Maybe we should tax them in shares, so the government has a vested interest that can be monetized, but that would mean that Trump is somehow right...

It's definitely income though it's not taxable until the options are exercised. The only way it is not income is if the option price is higher than the market price when you exercise the options but there is no reason to do that.

Capital gains tax is where the money is at.

But not just for the rich, we all should pay a higher capital gains tax.

I would vote in favor of taxing it as ordinary income, payroll type taxes included.
