If this interpretation is correct, and it might well be, Trump’s plan is to win the northern swing states, lose the rest, and try to flip the blue dot.

Let’s hope Alaska or one of the other 4 known swing states makes that moot. Because if it’s November 9 and it’s Harris 270-268 with the blue dot, There Will Be Blood. It’s gonna be scary AF.

For those of you who understand CLT and other concepts from statistics

The problem is that polls are no longer repeated random samples from a population.

They are a variety of sampling techniques, often from different sources, combined to create something approximating a sample that looks like the population.

We have violated the CLT assumptions.

And then we weight the data we get back, further moving it away from a random sample.

We've completely destroyed CLT by this point. We shouldn't assume that repeated samples, which are not random and are then weighted, will approximate a normal distribution.

I think what she’s saying is that response rates are so low nowadays that polling isn’t polling as it’s commonly understood. I think she’s saying that getting the modeling accurate is a) extremely difficult because the election is a one off event and b) having accurate modeling is the whole ballgame.
