Does that mean all Gen Xers are Karens? I mean Karen on Will & Grace is definitely someone to aspire to
I would love it if there were a TV show called "Finding Out" where each episode they cover a different Insurrectionist and how they fucked up their lives. Enjoy your 9 years in prison, Tina Peters. pic.twitter.com/j8h8Ku1hMA— Machine Pun Kelly 🇺🇦 (@KellyScaletta) October 3, 2024
Trump will almost certainly pardon her if he wins. OTOH her guards should probably have her on suicide watch if Trump loses.
Are you sure about that? The Secret Service has a long respected history of professionalism and ahahhaha I can't even finish this sentence.
<snicker> You think she's gonna make it nine years in the brig? She might have 15 free. Old people don't live long there. My guess is that health care is suboptimal If I ever find that post where someone really went off on me about my post that a SS breach could result in harm to President Obama's family or to him.
If I am allowed to congratulate myself on riding the wave of someone else's self-congratulatory internet meme, it's because we're old enough to know there's nothing new under the sun while being young enough to be part of a media culture that includes weirdness, satire, and metanarratives.
I was wondering if Trump could order Federal troops to bust her out. First, even if Trump is immune from giving any order, I don't know if it means the people implementing an illegal order are immune. Probably not. Second, even if they could get her out, where could she go? Every state has to respect every other state's request to return fugitives, and that includes territories like Washington DC. While military bases are not mentioned in Code § 3182, it seems they work closely with local law enforcement to rapidly turn over any fugitive from law. So even in Trump World, unless she wanted to live her life in Guantanamo, I don't think Trump can save her.
This is the problem with the immunity ruling. The president always had the power to pardon his coconspirators in something like this. But until that ruling the president remained exposed to being prosecuted himself after leaving office. With the immunity ruling….that backstop was blown up.
After writing that…it occurred to me that a similar hypothetical was posed in oral arguments (SEAL team 6). I honestly don’t know whether or not that hypothetical was specifically addressed in the immunity ruling. @yossarian any idea?
The neighborhoods in Detroit that I can think of Vance remotely, remotely getting welcome at are places like Boston Edison, Sherwood Forest (Super beautiful homes), and maybe Indian Village. And even then those neighborhoods would tell him to piss off. Going to Eastern Market is a choice that's for sure. I can see the Detroit Athletic Club and the Yacht Club welcoming him. That, and him giving a speech in Shelby Township, that wasn't a surprise. If he was born in MI he'd be talking about how he doesn't go to Detroit except for the sports and maybe a concert. But going to Eastern Market, on a Saturday, is going to be a logistical nightmare. I hope JD Vance event at Eastern Market next week, according to Trump campaign. Where in Detroit could the Republican nominee for vice president stop by for a friendly visit? pic.twitter.com/JQ5UVdSGET— Sam Robinson (@samueljrob) October 5, 2024
Gen X is pretty right wing also. Growing up under Reagan and all that. That and Gen X gave us Ted Cruz. why is Gen X so Trumpy pic.twitter.com/rziDg9fw3U— Armand Domalewski (@ArmandDoma) October 4, 2024
This story (link goes to CBS News) says that he will be there on Tuesday 10/8. I'm paying attention because my wife is headed to Detroit for "The Battery Show", which is one of the bigger conferences in her field. It was previously held in Novi but is in downtown Detroit - Huntington Place? - this year. I doubt she will be anywhere near Eastern Market on Tuesday but if Vance decides to bring his motorcade downtown to interact with the common citizenry, she may be impacted.
