Gift link to Washington Post article (so no paywall should need to be bypassed): https://wapo.st/3t95akP The article is dated November 30 - more than a week ago now. The statement was in an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin of the New York Times on Wednesday November 29. I don't have a subscription to the failing NYT, but this is a link to a ... podcast, I think? which has the interview in audio form. I think. I didn't listen to it but if you're looking for primary sources this appears to be it. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/30/podcasts/kevin-mccarthy-on-his-political-future.html

I tend to think the nature of his scenes like Clayton Bigsby and the Racial Draft suggest he knows America as well as I do. But you have apparently seen an interview of some kind and I have not.
You can both be right. Dave can know America on race and still find protecting his wealth more important.
Oxford, October 28th. I think the context is that he was trying to toot his own horn, to say that he was the one who had been trying to change that. And now he endorsed Donald Trump and is hoping for a post in his Cabinet.

Steve Schmidt cashed a nice fat check and bailed. Very on brand. pic.twitter.com/LyPqleFkjz— scary lawyerguy (@scarylawyerguy) December 5, 2023
Kinda want to watch that episode… James Comer’s failed impeachment investigation is such a huge disaster it can be seen from space! @aliensupershow pic.twitter.com/acZd6rJQuP— Congressman Jared Moskowitz (@RepMoskowitz) December 9, 2023

Steve Schmidt has zero credibility with me. His compass is wherever he thinks he can get the biggest paycheck. I’m glad he broke with the GOP over Trump, but nothing else I’ve heard or seen makes me think he’s one to heed.
White grievances: There was once a time when they were all white Christian males… things change, and just because a person is of color, or female, or whatever it is you aren’t… does not mean that they were chosen without merit— Justjes (@laceami) December 10, 2023

Exactly, the challenge is that even when it's good there are very few messages that will make all parts of our base, the media and independents happy. Most effective Republican messaging is not necessarily good & there is not an expectation placed on them that it should be good.— John V. Moore (@johnvmoore) December 9, 2023
And, as long as we're at it, antisemitism is *not* downstream of white supremacy. It is a hate and a worldview much older than any modern conception of whiteness or race (even as it plays a key role in white nationalism). 5/— Rabbi Daniel Bogard (@RavBogard) December 7, 2023
There are many ways to describe the ongoing settlement in/displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank. We shld note the profound moral rot of the people whose consistent aim is to equate Israelis with the Nazis who perpetrated the holocaust. It’s really a sickness. https://t.co/XmpWUc6Dt7— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) December 10, 2023
Thank you. It never dawned in me that Palestinans have the right of self-determination or are equal to me in any way. I will take your insights into careful consideration in the future. https://t.co/PNrc5bCxbM— Daniel Seidemann (@DanielSeidemann) December 9, 2023
