Manufacturing solar panels is a pretty complex industrial process and the panels won't last forever. I'll take a horse or even better an ox.
Windmill. Water mill. Make Conan walk around in a circle pushing a thing. All of these can be used to generate electricity - slowly - but it's still better than gas. Yes, horse is better in the long run but between gas car and electric car, electric wins.
Actually batteries would be a bigger industrial logjam than solar panels or at least any batteries with a range of more than a few miles. If anything you would use wood or coal, something not requiring an internal combustion engine which needs refined fuels and is complex.
I wonder what happens if they really can't sell this truck? Maybe nothing much? It does seem a preposterous thing to launch
It just sounds terrible that I'm paying taxes to go to law enforcement who will use that money to buy these shitty vehicles which leads to the profit of a really shitty person.
I agree this is the issue. Making electricity is easy. Making lots of it is hard. Anything generated would probably go to lighting and cooking. A single standardish 300 watt panel would take 17 days to charge a Cybertruck. Just the presales will take up all production for years. Maybe lots of years, depending on how production goes.

Warning to the wise: Some aspiring dictators in earlier world history have managed to seize absolute power because some people refused to take their most brutal threats seriously.— Michael Beschloss (@BeschlossDC) December 6, 2023 "...if you elect Donald Trump, we're going to incur the serious danger that all of us Americans are going to be living under a presidential dictatorship...all I'm saying is, watchout." - Michael Beschloss

That's a pretty good added context. However. Behold the GOAT of added context. Ah, I see you’ve mixed up Taylor Swift and Bibi Netanyahu. Common mistake, no worries, just delete and try again! https://t.co/rIeSTsZlHN— Mrs. Detective Pikajew, Esq. (@clapifyoulikeme) December 6, 2023
Nice shade: To be clear: This is a reference to financial bankruptcy. The report does not appear to comment on the MI GOP's moral or ethical bankruptcy. https://t.co/k6FHGc1Dc8— emptywheel (seiceáil) (@emptywheel) December 7, 2023
Why would anyone in Israel give a rat's ass about what Taylor Swift thinks? (Again, I make a mental note to finally listen to some of her music to see what all the fuss is about.)
Ultimate White AI? Wow. The AI that digs the N word. So revolutionary. 😂— JazUno (@Jazuno1Zabala) December 7, 2023
The MI GOP does not have an office right now. Its address is a mailbox at a UPS store in Grand Rapids. Oh, and Karamo is picking fights with the DeVos family, their biggest donor.
If only they could schedule an election against the Louisiana Democratic party, just to get back in the win column.
