Trump lost the election FYI. Side note this speech is boring. We can’t win the presidency with this boring, low energy, stream of conscience, weak, has been, choke artist. Just my .02— Adam Kinzinger (Slava Ukraini) 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇮🇱 (@AdamKinzinger) February 28, 2021
Wow, they may start to act a bit christian? Shocking! How long have they been around and discriminating against families? 75 years How far into the 21st Century are we? 21 years. Why did they make this decision? Oh, yeah, they were sued (more than once) and would lose state funding. Wonderful "christians" Awesome "christian" charity.
75 years ago, literally NO agency would permit a same sex couple to adopt. No state legally permitted same-sex adoption until 1997, though a few people managed to adopt with the cooperation of agents willing to look the other way on the parents' orientations (California leading the way there, unsurprisingly). If I read the article linked to the tweet correctly, they could still refuse to serve potential LGBTQ adopters, but doing so would cut off their supply of federal money. Which might be why Diane Butler Bass emphasized the importance of voting in the tweet.
That may be seen as both funny and tragic....For "serious" reporters to write garbage like that is mind boggling....It is Politico though, so I should not be surprised. Journalists who write garbage like this deserve to be dragged all day everyday. I can't even... 🙄🙄 pic.twitter.com/vmGSgzUH9U— dUsTiN - Come find me on Threads. Same @. (@dustinfalgout) March 2, 2021

Good points and, yes, voting matters! For a bit of state context, this issue was fought about in Illinois in 2011-12. When the wonderfully and ironically monikered "Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act" (750 ILCS 75 et seq) went into effect, it had an amazing sentence. Sec. 20. Protections, obligations, and responsibilities. A party to a civil union is entitled to the same legal obligations, responsibilities, protections, and benefits as are afforded or recognized by the law of Illinois to spouses, whether they derive from statute, administrative rule, policy, common law, or any other source of civil or criminal law. This sentence effectively changed 450+ plus state laws about marriage and relationships, including, of course, the right to adopt. In Rockford, Catholic Charities (which handled adoptions on as a contractor of Winnebago County) said they would not allow for adoptions (or foster care in some instances) of same sex couples in Civil Unions. This also happened in several other areas of the state. AG Lisa Madigan went after them and said they would lose all funding, as they would not be in compliance with law.
is it just me, or is he trying to establish himself as one of the key leaders of the "antiTrump GOP"? I like what he's says, and how he says it. but I know very little about his background.
a new super PAC has been formed to support GOP anti-Trumpers. are you saying he's toast anyway? https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/01/politics/kinzinger-allies-super-pac/index.html Allies of Illinois GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger have launched a super PAC to support Republicans in 2022 who stood up to then-President Donald Trump after a mob of his supporters attacked the US Capitol in an effort to overturn the 2020 election. The organizers of the new group, Americans Keeping Country First, said in a memo that they want to "build a potent political operation that provides a counterweight to far-right candidates and groups that threaten primary campaigns against principled House Republican members."
He's toast. It's not a money issue that will prevent just about all anti-trumpers from being nominated as Republicans.
Americans Keeping Country First, is a terrible name for anything, let alone a "Super Pac" (Super Pacs should be illegal anyway). Kinzinger may be able to hang on in a strongly Republican, but less conservative section of northern Illinois (Kinzinger beat the more Conservative incumbent Manzullo in the primary when the districts were redrawn), but the lunatic fringe of the Republican party are gunning for him...hard. (Oh, shit, we cannot say "lunatic fringe" anymore as the lunatics are the MAIN component of the Republican party) He will likely face a tough primary next year. I would say 2-1 that he is "toast." He has already been censured by the LaSalle County, Illinois Republican Party for voting to uphold the law in Tr*mp Impeachment II-Electric Boogaloo. The LaSalle County Republican Central Committee overwhelmingly passed a resolution censuring the GOP congressman for taking actions “contrary to the values” of the party, county GOP Chair Larry Smith announced. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/02/04/adam-kinzinger-censure-illinois-465838 Rather amazing that party of "law and order" censure a Representative for upholding "law and order" and that "law and order" are contrary to the values of the Republican Party. Nah, not amazing at all, really.
