If you're a reporter or pundit saying "actually, this was a gift to McCarthy," well, congratulations on picking up the "actually, this was good news ... for John McCain" torch from Mark Halperin.Just terminal Beltway Brain Syndrome.— Kevin M. Kruse (@KevinMKruse) July 21, 2021
Yeah. Get Joe Manchin in a room, carrot and stick him into complying, and pass a Democrats only bill.
Come on now with that second tweet. The complaint is that journalists have ignored a Donald Trump rant. That's EXACTLY what they should be doing.
I see your point...but I think it's valid journalism to see if GOPs who are NOT Trump agree with him.
the proper policy response is for this guy to take out loans to cover his million dollars of medical bills. do i mean signing up for what amounts to a life time of debt servitude with no way out? Yes. absolutely. https://t.co/fzxklb08gY— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) July 22, 2021
It's a problem that is pervasive in beltway/westminster journalism e.g Classic Dom has been going around spilling all the dirt on Boris which breaks into a "both sides" mix of scandal vs personal drama and rivalry But the coverage misses the bigger picture. BBC Laura (head of politics) corners Classic Dom on his lies about Turkey - but we knew these were lies at the time. Where is the accountability for BBC Laura and co nevertheless platforming the liars, and not now holding the toadies accountable? Personally I think the only valid approach is that people who repeat Trump's big lie, should never be allowed back on, and instead their record of lying should be the story.
Only problem is who’s really going to pay for that: By choosing not to get vaccinated, people who don’t want to “pay for other people’s healthcare” are going to wind up forcing us to pay for theirs.— The Volatile Mermaid (@OhNoSheTwitnt) July 22, 2021
Unvaccinated NFL players who fear the vaccine are mad that if they cause COVID outbreaks, it'll lead to a forfeit. Imagine running headfirst into people for a living but being scared of modern medical science because Russian bots micro-targeted conspiracies to your Facebook feed.— Fifty Shades of Whey (@davenewworld_2) July 23, 2021
Maybe Mexico can pay for it? I’ll give him 10 tacos. Meet Tommy Fisher. His company spent millions to build a 3-mile border wall between the U.S. and Mexico. Now, he needs to find someone to buy it. A little late but good anyways: Remember kids: if you study hard, get good grades, go to a good college, get a job, work hard, never take a sick day, live within your means and do what you're told ... then one day your boss might go to space— Dan Price (@DanPriceSeattle) July 12, 2021
NFL Players when asked about their torn labrum, ACL repair, cortisone injection, surgically repaired ankle: “Well I’ve been working with the staff physicians and leading doctors…”NFL Players when asked if they’ve received a potentially life-saving vaccine: “That’s HIPPA…”— wilkos@mastodon.world (@wilkos) July 23, 2021
Remember last week when Tennessee outlawed…I think it was any public information campaign for teenagers? BREAKING: Tennessee will resume nearly all forms of adolescent vaccine advocacy, per state health commissioner. Lots of vaccine outreach was halted this month due to GOP political pressure, prompting a media firestorm. We will publish a story as soon as I, you know, write it.— Brett Kelman (@BrettKelman) July 23, 2021
She ********ed around. She found out. A quick Google search shows that in May, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a bill that prohibited private businesses and public institutions from requiring COVID-19 "vaccine passports" to access services or refusing those not inoculated. So, "I don't know, you tell me," huh? https://t.co/fDO6pW984v— John Lee (@koreanforeigner) July 23, 2021
In doing so, Bezos effectively conducted a wealth transfer, from his personal account to all those who worked to make the spacecraft and send it in orbit. May every billionaire build spacecrafts and launch themselves into space. Again and again and again.
Hear, hear. So many of my friends on social media are going on and on about greedy, egotistical sociopaths. I see the science fiction stuff I read as a kid coming true, they see sociopaths. Billionaires do good stuff that governments can't or won't do. Of course not all billionaires are good people, but they aren't all bad, either.
