Whether West Ham stay up on the last day or not, their fightback during the 2nd half of the season is historic. It would have been easy to pack it in from bottom of the table at Christmas, but they fought every match. And if they go down I believe they'll be the first to do so on more than 40 points in many years.

So big ups to the Hammers for their win today home to Chelsea and best of luck next week.

I'd be a bit squirmy in your shoes as well Splarg.

Leeds, who are the flip-side of the Hammers' coin this year in terms of heart and grit, will be in massive danger after they get done with their football lesson at Highbury.

I'm thinking more about the Villa match we have in a week then the one at Highbury tomorrow.

It would be VERY interesting if Bolton hold on for a point against Soton... It is 0-0 at the half now with Soton controlling the match.

that would put us all on 41 points (Leeds with 2 matches left).... this is what the goal difference would be then....

    Leeds (-2)
    Bolton (-11)
    Wham (-17)

last fixtures of the season are:

    Brum - Wham
    Bolton - Boro
    Leeds - Villa

    Regardless, props to West Ham....

...and there's also the potential of the Monkey's Heed having a part in two clubs being relegated in the same season. :)

    Southampton 0-0 Bolton

It's all set up for a heart stopping final day.

Whoever goes down will so with the most points of any team relegated since the leauge was reduced to 20 teams.

Bolton and Sunderland currently hold the record of being relegated on 40 points. To cap it all Bolton went down on goal difference.

IMO it would be a travesty is all three teams won and West Ham went down on 44 points due to goal difference.

Another thing I will guarantee is that Bolton, West Ham and Leeds are light years ahead of any of the teams being promoted.

Woohoo! that might shut up all the 'experts' who go on about how good he is and that Sunderland should have kept him on.

However, I have a strange urge to see WHam go down as well, for a number of varied reasons.

    if they go down...

will any di caniop commit ritual suicide as a matter of honor? he once said he would kill himself if his career at west ham ended without a trophy. what would going down do to him? he should keep it real.

I'm betting a draw is good enough to stay up -- someone will probably lose.

Yeah, thank god you Sunderland fans finally have Mick -a manager who can help you win.

unless by "win" you mean actually scoring more goals than the other team. 19 points and no win in sight- i wouldnt expect a Premiership return for many a year

And another 2 cents, Reidy didnt kill Leeds. They are a much improved side since he took over from Terry.
But the damage is already done, and they could go the way of Palace if they dont avoid relegation.

speaking of which, how is it that Uri Geller didn't see his Exeter team being relegated???
My guess is that they will not survive going into administration either.

    Westaahmmmmm. Too little, too late.

C'mon Boro, ROLL OVER! Bolton are going to kick some arse. They should provide better opposition than the MIGHTY SPURS! How do you stop someone from shooting themselves in the foot? Take away his gun of course.

    Thanks for the support boys.

Have to say Arse did us no favors.

    1) Pires goes down like a baby learning to walk at Highbury.

    2) Bergkamp hits wanker in the face then delivers the game winning cross at highbury. FA later fines Bergkamp

    3) Arse give up a 2-0 lead to Bolton

    4) Arse are pants v leeds.

    --
of course we sucked till March, and now our manager is in the hospital. Lucky we have Trevor Brooking working his magic again.

    thanks again,

    up the Hammers

    or should that be

    Stay Up Hammers!

I don't know the full caboodle surrrounding Roeder but the Hammers deserve relegation for the way some fans and players undermined the manager.

He's culpable for hiring the manager but that doesn't excuse the disrespect, pressure and vitriol he was subjected to by fickle fans and ungrateful players.

He's a crap manager. Look at his previous record. He got his other teams shafted. Julian Dicks is right. They should've hired someone with a track record. i mean, even Trevor Brooking has got them winning, and he's never managed before!

All this crap about 'undermining the manager'. If he was any good no-one would've complained. Like Hoddle at Spurs, obviously SOMETHING'S wrong.

    Disrespect? Fans respect a winner.

Pressure? It comes with the job. Especially when the Hammers have such a great squad but are underperforming so badly.

Fickle fans? Westahhhhhm fans are some of the most loyal. They've had to put up with an utterly caca season and have still turned up in their droves. Why support a useless manager? When Gross came to Spurs I cheered him. I wanted him to do well. When it was discovered he was rubbish I wanted him out. I don't care about him, just THFC.

Ungrateful players. I don't know what you mean. Except their defence gets paid too much.

Good take. I don't think Gross was bad, but hiring David Pleat was a huge mistake. It undermined what Gross was trying to do. Look at what he did with FC Basel - Champions League and a dominant team in Switzerland. No doubt they could pummel our teams.

If Bayer Leverkusen stays up, I'd wager he makes the move.
