well, a striker that's for damn sure.

Tevez & Robinho are both names that have come up (duh),
but it seems quite unlikely as they would cost 15mil+.

Blaize N'kufo of Twente is a probable choice.

how about Mista of Valencia? a looong shot, i know but still.

Mohamed Zidan of Midtjylland in denmark has been making a lot of noise recently, at the top of the league scoring charts & linked to a club or two in Germany.

we also need (i think) a new centerback..Vincent Kompany?, ah!, to poach him from Anderlecht would be sweet!

what other players?, in these positions or any others? ideas?

please no robinho!!! n'kufo from twente or rosenberg from halmstad seems likely - i certainly wouldn't sneeze at a portillo loan, should fiorentina give up on him

Yah those 1 of those 2 Swedes they were looking at are probably likely imports. But I could see Ajax keeping that person for a longer term 'project'.

N'Kufo looks quite likely as a temporary fill-in, if they do go after him.

Tevez? Forget it. It is wishful thinking. If his asking price is now up to 20 million, and PSV cannot afford it (and it appears that Chelsea has not offered any additional money in a split-buy thing) then there is no chance for Ajax to get him. Personally I can see Tevez going to Barcelona, Valencia or Deportivo La Coruna.

Wouldnt it be funny though, if Ajax went and bought one of Roma's forwards?Don't they have an excess of CF talent? Cassano, Totti (yah right), Montella if I'm correct, but I could be out to lunch.

yeah, that's two things we need: another selfish flake and to give money to the crooks at roma

    Point extremely well taken.

It would be funny though - we should get a fake bank draft and say that we can pay for Totti. That would be a good one, if you ask me.

Nah, I wouldnt want a Roma striker for the life of me.

why would it be funny? referring to mido?

Vincent Kompany? no way. Not even chelsea could buy him. He would be available later tho.. in a year or so when he thinks it's time to move on.

What happened to the Kone guy?
Kerzhakov or Bojinov would be good but might cost a lot.
    Ahn Jung Hwan maybe :D

Apparently there's a top 3 of players they want to buy:

    1. Koller
    2. Zurawski
    3. Rosenberg

Personally I think Koller's to expensive salary-wise and probably doesn't want to play in the Dutch league, I don't know Rosenberg (Anderlecht is after him too) but I've seen Zurawski play lots of times and I can't quite understand why he's still at Wisla in Poland.

Tavez has openly said he wants to go to Athletico Madrid, so I guess everybody is out of the question...

I believe he failed his medical at the last moment & Ajax wouldn't take a chance on him.

    Koller would be fantastic!

I bet Galàsek can persuade him to play here, AND he'll be able to play half a season of UEFA Cup football. Can't see him doing that at Dortmund this season :p

Now we'll just have to hope that mr. Arie wants to pay his salary. He said last week that Ajax had €30 mil to spend, so why not €5 mil for two years of Koller?

He might be hinting at the supposed 2,5M salary of Koller. I think it's even more ( 3 M a year) actually.

I was hinting at two years of salary indeed. And even if it's three mil, there's always his friend Tomas Galàsek to persuade him. Or maybe he'll settle for a lower salary and a signing fee...

Anyway, if he wants to play for Ajax, then Ajax can get him.

Koller is Just another Yannis A, though obviously a couple of steps up :) Yannis was picked up to score a few goals while Zlatan was out injured, Koller is in the winter of his career, & would be bought to score goals while Ajax "grow" a new big striker (say two years or so...). i'd rather we buy someone a bit, ah, edgier.

i hear Lyon would have to unload Nilmar on loan when Giovanni Elber is fit in January...

p.s. don't misconstrew the above, i think Koller is a great striker, just not (in my mind) for Ajax.

Seriously, who on Earth would buy a 34 year old player who hasn't played a single match in three (four, five?) years...?

Looks like Markus Rosenberg injured his foot in play this weekend. If Ajax do go after him, it will probably be a long term project, especially now with this injury.

Also, it appears that Ajax and PSV are after the same person. No, not Tevez but a Brazilian by the name of Eduardo da Silva. Plays for Dinamo Zagreb. Does anyone have any knowledge on the guy?

Just wondering whether anyone thinks that Ajax could/would take a risk and sign Adrian Mutu.

Since Chelsea fired him, there is no transfer fee required and I think that also voids his contract as well.

In the sporting side, I don't know whether Mutu is a 4-4-2 kind of player or a 4-3-3 because I haven't seen him play that often. Nevertheless, he is quite a talent from what little I saw.

On the non-sporting side, he might benefit from having a fellow countryman on his team (Lobont) and time at the Ajax academy might be beneficial for him to straighten his footballing and private life out as well. Given that he tested positive for a recreational drug and his willingness to go into rehab, past history says that he wont be suspended for very long either.

Overall, it might work nicely for both sides. Ajax get a quality forward who is willing to straighten things out (and given that he is at a major low point in his career, he would probably be open to tutelage on his game as well) for very low (financial) risk. Mutu gets a second shot at a big club away from a major high-pressure league like the Premiership, Serie A, Primera, etc. until he sets his life in order.

I guess the big 'if' is whether he screws up again, enticed by Amsterdam's party scene.
