I have Cox Cable of Fairfax. I just looked at the online program guide for the channels that normally show the shootout games and there is nothing scheduled for tonight. I then called Cox and they told me that their system only shows games up to September 29 but they can't find any games scheduled for today. They gave me and indemand phone number to call but it's out of order. Anyone else having this problem?
Cox fairfax sucks, that's all I can say I don't have digital cable, just the regular cable in the part of Fairfax I am in, and i can't get any of the games...I'm just going to go to Summer's tonight.
Just come over to my place... Bring beer though... The following games have been ADDED: 10/2/02 19:30 601 MLS SHOOTOUT #149 10/2/02 20:30 602 MLS SHOOTOUT #150 10/2/02 22:30 603 MLS SHOOTOUT #152
This news worries me--Cox RI/CT/Southern Mass. listed the games last Saturday and showed none of them. After several conversations with the Command Center there, I'm hopeful this will be corrected for tonight. Right now, I'm resigned to having to call up there a day or two before each set of games and begin the process of getting them on board (IF it works tonight). I don't know why this is so difficult, or why MLS hasn't put the word out to Cox that the Shootout did NOT end at the end of the regular season, as they seem to think.
The games are DEFINITELY on tonight, so start hammering your local cable company to make sure they flip the right switch or whatever they need to do to make it appear on your tv. If the customer service person doesn't know what's going on, ask to go up the ladder, as high asp ossible, to talk to someone who knows what's happening. A lot of this is because the scheudle is not set in advance, and no one knows until very late if the games will be broadcast on the local tv channels which the shootout picks up, and it takes a while to get to InDemand, and then back to the local cable systems. Very frustrating. But if you've been receiving it during the season, you should be getting it now.
TWDC rocks . I get 3 games tonight. I asked the rep "How many people bought the Shootout this year?" from area which covers Flushing, Jamaica and some parts of Manhattan, about 5000 subs were sold. According to him Shootout did better then NHL,because of price.
I "reloaded" and still nothing on the Cox Guide. If I don't get these Shootout games tonight, I blame MLS. I've done everything I can do--I've talked to every single supervisor, have received messages on my machine assuring me that I'll get these games tonight, gone far above and beyond anything anyone should have to do, spent hours on hold, and am rewarded with NOTHING. How can I follow a league if I can't see the playoffs? In the end, this is MLS's fault--they MUST make sure everyone is on the same page. They need to hire someone solely in charge of this kind of thing. If I can't watch these playoffs, I am giving up on the league for good. I won't spend 4-5 hours a week chasing down leads and rumors about games anymore, getting to know every Cox supervisor by name. It isn't worth it. And it will keep happening, again and again, so why bother? One more chance--tonight--and then I write the nastiest possible e-mail to Garber & Co. and turn out the lights. I've been there since SJ/DC in 1996, but this is truly the final straw. Like I said, if I can't even follow the league because of its own ineptitude, why bother?
I "reloaded" and still nothing on the Cox Guide. OK, scratch all this--it's ON. Miraculously, despite their being nothing on the guide. All you guys with cable in southern NE have me to thank, and Bonnie. If I don't get these Shootout games tonight, I blame MLS. There was nothing on my guide either (Adelphia, Santa Monica) but I still got the games. You just have to know they're on.
I think that's the point. You shouldn't just "have to know." It should "just work." That's MLS's job, now that they've taken responsibility (for what it's worth) from ESPN. If anyone from MLS reads this, I'll be your COO. I'll call iN DEMAND everyday and make sure things "just work." I'll get your cups and toilet paper too.
I haven't missed a single playoff game yet on Comcast in PA, but none of them have been listed. I guess they just don't worry so much about the guide for late-scheduled games.
