I don’t thinks it was that easy.

He was never able to get his EU passport.

Plus let’s be honest....playing for lowly teams like Ajaccio, Granada, and Standard and receive goleadas week in and week out, did nothing for his career.

The passport was the biggest issue, he could never stay put for long enough to get it. He was a year away with Ajaccio and I firmly believe his career would have developed quite differently had he acquired his euro passport in that first step.

Here's an interview with him from last May. And from another:

Smart move by Charlotte if it indeed happens. There’s a large Mex community in NC that would show their support

And if someone deserves the big retirement bounty, it's Guardado.

Santiago Gimenez signed with Matias Bunge. That's the representative that club owners and their bitches like David Medrano hate because he makes players go to Europe by skipping on resigning and the guy behind the Pizzuto and Gomez move. Might mean he's looking to Europe and it would be great because of his size and the fact that he's a lefty, he could get interest and would be a big boost for the future of the NT should he make it.

We’re in serious trouble if we still want Guardado for the 2022 WC.

We’re in serious trouble if let him go to the MLS and he’s on the World Cup roster.
