To me Jota is more of a false 9. I rather see him on the wing. But that is just me.

Well, Ronaldo scored (not a penalty) for Portugal and Spain were held to a draw by Serbia in their first match since becoming Euro winners.

4-3 Netherlands is my initial prediction.
But so far I have totally been wrong. I thought Group 1 was going to be low scoring and boring.

So it may be 0-0. :ROFLMAO:

France-Belgium tonight with some pressure on France after the opening loss at home to Italy.

Ronaldo not the only oldie with a winner yesterday. Modric also lifted Croatia over Poland.

I'll do my best to attend Modrić vs Ronaldo in November. :D

After 1.5 games of their 2024-25 UNL campaign, it is already evident that Germany have improved since EURO 2024.

They will be one of the favourites in 2026, if they qualify!

Without Kroos? Without home advantage? I'd bet against them, but I think under the new 32-team KO format a lot will come down to being in the right part of the bracket.

This is one of my biggest grips with the new format.

We could be getting France vs Spain in one R16 match after they both topped their groups while other first places will get the winner of a 2nd place vs 2nd place

Good point, I overlooked that possibility.

Nevertheless - and again assuming they qualify - it is evident Germany is inching back towards the very highest level of national team football.

Will it be sufficient by 2026? Quite possibly.

I never count out Germany even though they have not looked great in major tournaments.
They are one of the few Euro teams I think can win in '26.

As for Switzerland-Spain, several well positioned crowd videos have surfaced that really put into the question Spain's opening goal (did the entire ball cross the goal-line?) and Switzerland's disallowed 2:2 equaliser (did the ball cross the end-line in the air during the corner kick?) that had the potential to change the entire match.

Leaving my personal whinge aside, why doesn't the UEFA Nations League (at least in League A) have properly mounted cameras for the VAR? Or even better, goal-line technology? What good is a VAR in the match if the camera/technological support isn't available? League A needs to be brought in line with the standard of the UEFA Champions League.

No. But it's extremely tiresome. You finally have a Concacaf event small enough to be moved around......and still. Same old outcome. It's a joke.

It is only tiresome to people like you.
No one in CONCACAF cares. No Countries care about hosting it other than the USA.
Cannot conjure up excitement and interest out of nothing.

I follow CONCACAF and know the drill.

    It is self-explanatory.

I guess league B isn't going to be a total breeze for mighty England. :sneaky:

First ever win over England by Greece. A Greece side mourning its player, George Baldock.

In Rome Italy held on to a draw against Belgium in spite of a red card, and San Marino are back to their non-winning ways - losing to Gibraltar.
