The first half of the season ended with great promise. But what happened in the second half was a total disaster. God damn...I still cant believe the sudden decline. It really didnt make sense. And it seems Lopez and Stam will be leaving Lazio after this season. Not good at all... Yah, this might have been a useless post, but I just really had to voice my unhappiness about the teams situation.
Well, I just dont think the team was deep enough...they were fighting on three fronts and came up short in the Coppa and UEFA Cup... However, Lazio's form has picked up of late and finishing top 4 and making the Champions League looks reasonable. Stam will be a big loss for sure, they need to bring in a young, athletic defender or two...
i think we all knew that our luck was going to run dry eventually with the limited squad and crippling financial wheely deelys. But we had some great times this year. Beating Juve was one of my favourite memories of the season. Hopefully we can compete with the other clubs in the champions leage next season and the cash we generate can help pay someone at the club. I hear Maccarone(sp) and Di Canio from Boro and West Ham could be joining us for next season anyone got any info.
Lazio has made the Champions League for next year and the finances are being fixed...Thats two tremendous accomplishments... Sounds like they are going to get either Signori or Di Canio on a free to replace Chiesa as reserve forward. Lopez is going to Valencia to lessen old debts there...Maccarone would be the perfect Claudio replacement.......and Stam and Corradi are likely to go with Lazio getting players back in swap deals...
I hope these transfers you guys talk about turn out good. When I look back at the transfers we made the past few years, we've made some really dumb decisions. Most of those were due to the money problems, unfortunately. But I still cannot understand why we let Nedved off, and Crespo as well. But still there is no use staying in the past I guess. Yeah, CL qualification is a big accomplishment and im happy for that. But will we be able to really compete there? We better make some good signings in the off-season if we wish to...
That's the big question, is this team Champions League ready?? Probably not, certainly the defense needs some new, younger blood...
I dont think wether were good enough is the important issue for next champions league. It's how much money we can get out of it thats the real deal unfortunatly. Perhaps if we have another good start to the season next year we can get through to the second round, which would be a great achivement for us. Overall its been a good season for us when you look back we only lost 5 games or so. Next season will be the tough one methinks.
