Yes I know we lost, but I am very proud of the way we fought back in this game and at the end of the year. The way we finished we have nothing to be ashamed of and can look forward to next year And don't forget, we own the Metros. We own the Atlantic Cup by beating the living h*ll out of them Way to go Curtis and Convey. Nice assist Diablo please come back at a lesser salary so you and Convey can continue to play well in the middle
I'll second that notion. But let's get a d-mid who is at least marginally a two-way player, as opposed to Richie, who looks scared sh!tless with the ball at his feet.
Re: Re: I'm proud True that. What a pathetic offensive player. Kills our flow. Time to find someone who can add to the attack, not subtract
On the way home, WGMS was playing the last movement of Beethoven's Ninth. I really needed to hear that. I'm proud, too.
Congratulations to DCU. You guys have played with so much spirit and heart for the last month. It was really fun watching guys make a late season run (especially tonights effort). If our team (Fire) would have played with the heart you showed over the last 3-4 games we'd be sitting pretty right now. You have nothing to hang your heads about. Well accept not making the playoffs. And who knows, we may be joining you unless we show some fight.
Last night Prideaux was at Fado. I thanked him for playing hard all year. That's all I ask, and that's what we got last night. We could lose every game, but if our boys play HARD and with heart, I'll be proud. Rich
Re: Re: I'm proud We've got one. Chino. If this team had shown the heart displayed last ngiht over the entire season, we would've won the division easily. DAve
Re: Re: Re: I'm proud And see, when you said that, I thought you were talking about Jaime, What a sorry sub that was! I hope that Q1 was just too tender to come back in, because otherwise giving Jaime the nod was an inexplicable decision. But I agree that the lads played their hearts out, by and large, and they gave us the best show we could have had. Dallas got lucky; we didn't. But that team last night was not the one we've been watching most of the season, and I'll be back to see them anytime they want to play. Walking out afterwards, GooseGirl and I agreed that the feeling was nothing like the feeling after the last game last year or the year before. Instead of "Oh, thank god! At least that's over now!" it was more like "Hey! I want *more*!"
Re: Re: Re: Re: I'm proud Yes! I was thinking the exact same thing. Completely different from the demoralizing way the last two seasons have ended.
No shame in last nights game. No shame in the way we ended the season,... especially in the way we dismantled the Mutts. I am proud to call myself a United fan and wear my colors proudly. During the off season I have a feeling we'll see alot of new faces in the United camp. Next year will be the year of the Eagle. TS.
Never let anyone know - but I found myself rooting for DC last night. Something I have no idea of why and something I doubt will ever happen again. But the heart and determination of the team was evident and I appreciate that as a fan. But I will never forget the absolutly crushing defeats my Crew has suffered at DC's hands. Great show last night. Dustin
Luke! Join me and together we can rule the Galaxy! And the MetroScum too! Give in to your hatred and join the Black and Red Side!
I was very proud last night just after the goal to end the game, I could still hear the fans chanting DC UNITED. I was very impressed and sad to see it end the way it did but a well played game.
Re: Re: Re: I'm proud How about one who is less marginally a two-way player. Williams has no offense Chino has little defense. A closer 60-40 (D/O) ratio would be ideal, but hard to find so I'd settle for 75/25 (D/O).
I'll be damned. Normally, I'd be foaming at the mouth seeing a Fire fan post here. But I guess I'm exhausted from last night's match...good luck to your Fire. They've played well enough to control their own destiny the whole season. If you should meet the MetroScum (god forbid they make the playoffs), spank 'em one time for the teams with trophies.
I've been more than critical of the team at times, but to a man, they all are class. We're lucky to have them. Of course, we'd be luckier to have some others as well. Sachin
Back to the important stuff... I, too, am proud. I just moved to this area recently--I've never lived in, or near, an MLS city, but once I found out I was going to live here, I knew that my destiny was with DC. So, from a distance, I suffered along with you all. Then I moved here, just in time to catch the late-season rally. I cannot claim this pride as my own--I have not been around, I am only recently laying a claim to DC United as my team. But I knew that this was where my destiny lay. So I can claim some of the pain, as I have been following the disappointment of this season. And now, I was here to see the late-season rally in person. What a thrill...these last two games especially. If you gotta miss the playoffs, that's the way to do it...leave us all waiting impatiently for next season!
