Cheers, mates. Appreciated. Rough day ... but a sliver of sunshine has made its way through the gloom. Allez PSG. RIP Dougie.
You boys are far more tribal than we are and you want Arsenal to lose all the time but being English I wanted the English club to win for England rather than a French club for France. The more English clubs that win a European trophy then the greater the prestige is for English football surely pooks.
Personally, I was just as happy if either of them lost. I dislike Arsenal, but PSG's oil money financial doping makes me sick. I despise them. At the end of the day, football was the winner.
Reports out of Switzerland saying that the Chickasaws have been spotted sipping their hot chocolate out of Arsenal mugs...
I quite dislike Arsenal, you see. England's national team is their vehicle for glory. I rather loathe the Premier League, truth be told. English club football was miles better (in most ways) before it came along - even if the clubs, themselves, were not. Mediocre Prem clubs dominating the Europa League & Conference does little for the appeal of either - unless its Spurs, of course. So to sum up : Spurs winning anything is good. Arsenal winning anything is bad.
We girls aren't as fanatic as you. My other half was a little concerned about what the reaction would be to my post but he let me go ahead with it anyway. To change the subject do you have any opinion on the Arne Slot sacking?
I really dont, to be honest. I have a real distaste for the absurd way that clubs feel compelled to discharge managers at the drop of a hat, but that's a general curmudgeon's complaint against modernity rather than with this decision. I dont follow Liverpool closely enough to guess at the dynamics involved. I can envision scenarios where I'd consider it the right decision and vise-versa. He's won a title and come 5th. If 5th isnt good enough for a club like L'pool, fair enough. But I wouldn't sack him for having done it once. You sack him if that appears the more likely standard going forward. I'll leave that decision to them.
Fair enough. Iraola to Liverpool and Alonso to Chelsea? If RDZ doesn't work and Slot's available I'd go for him.
Clubs like Liverpool and Milan operate in a different stratosphere than we do, and when the club falls below expectations, they act, while our ownership dithers. That's why they win things and we finish 17th.
