I've just looked back at results. The last I saw was that Leeds were winning 2-1 after 90 minutes. I left at that point thinking Leeds had won the match but I see that Bournemouth equalised very late on. At the time I didn't see that so I withdraw my post on that particular match.
Please. Nobody ran him off. He effing quit. Levy wanted to retain him until at least the summer, which we know because Simon Jordan publicly said that he told him as much. So Conte did his they-can't-keep-me-after-this press conference rather than walk, to insure he got a payout to go with his one-way ticket back to italy. The fans may not have liked his tactics - like putting on a defender for Kulusevski with ten minutes left and down a goal to Milan in the CL, ffs - but they had nothing to do with his exit.
Yeah, I hated his tactics when we beat Arsenal 3-0, Everton 5-0, Newcastle 5-1, Aston Villa 4-0, Norwich 5-0, and Manchester City 3-2. I also hated the fact that he recorded 56 points from his first 28 games in charge with a +30 goal differential, after taking over from Nuno. He refused to sign an extension because Levy would not bring in the players we needed to challenge for major honours. This is a guy who has won 5 Scudetti. 1 PL, and 1 FA Cup. And we have supporters who wanted to keep Ange.
[After the deletion of a fairly long post] That's a lot of work to put in, there, just to have it all deleted. Virtually all of your points could have been made without the vitriol. Except, I suppose, that the vitriol was probably the main point. Reel it in, people. Ive got to go to work now. But I'll ask folks to have another look at the 'This forum' thread later in the day, as it will have pertinent information for some.
Really? On the first goal, Tel made a good run, Kudus made a good pass, Tel shifted the ball to get his shot in, and put his shot on target. If none of these things happen, the goal doesn't come, regardless of the deflection. On the second goal, Porro plays a good ball to Kudus, Kudus makes a good run, beats the defender, wrong-foots the keeper, and hits the target. Again, if none of these things happen, we don't score, regardless of the deflection. I don't know what it is with you. When we play well and win, there's always something: we got lucky with an own goal, we had a deflected goal, we should have won by more goals...
Sometimes a deflection or an own goal is pure dumb luck. Our goals Saturday were the result of hard shots, on target. That's not luck - that's a good shot that somebody was able to touch, but not stop. Similar with own goals. A misplayed backpass to the keeper is luck, but our own goals tend to be the result of dangerous crosses into the 6 yard box - perhaps an element of good fortune, but not an unforced error. Fortune favors the bold, as they say.
18-year-old Estevao scores the winner for Chelsea vs. Liverpool. Already 7 caps for Brazil. 34 million euros. This is the kind of quality young player the top clubs sign, because they don't have numpties running their recruitment.
You really don't do your homework and need to provide context to some of your comments. The comparison of Slot to Fagan is far-fetched. Fagan had been a coach at the club since 1958, when he started with the reserves. Yes, the year following the treble, he didn't win any silverware, but they finished runners-up to Everton in the league, lost the final of the European Cup, and reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Not exactly a collapse. And he didn't resign, he retired, at the age of 64, after 27 years at the club. We are in October of Slot's second season. A bit early to be writing him off.
I saw their goalkeeper had both shots covered but ok, let's move on and hope our form improves in front of the goal. We cannot continue to rely on own goals and deflections. I think own goals is our leading scorer aren't they? Let's see what we do against Villa and Liverpool v Man Utd.
You're watching a different game mate - their keeper did not have both shots covered. Diverted shots and own goals are part of the game. Weren't you the one who complained when we "only" beat Southampton 5-0 last season?
My ticket for Viktoria Plzen v Fenerbahce on 6 Nov in the Europa League has been secured. Section G, row 18, seat 9 ... I'll give you a wave when the camera pans the stand. So do tune in.
Any place that's named after a food or drink has to be cool. Which gets me to name football clubs from places that are named after food or drink. Off the top of my head: Girondins de Bordeaux Dijon FCO Hamburger SV Kalamata FC Parma Bologna Genoa
