According to them, he's on just under 1.2 million euros a season, which is an effing batshit salary to pay someone who's played exactly 67 minutes in all competitions over the last 3 full seasons and doesn't even make the squad that often - just 6 times this season in the league, though he was almost ever-present in the EL.

 

It seems like he's been in almost a coaching role the last few seasons. I wonder if that's the reason he's still making such a good salary.

 

More than likely but even half of that is a remarkable amount to pay what would be an assistant coach.

Timothy Chandler signs contract extension


The Eintracht veteran has extended his contract with the Eagles by another year, tying him to the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Timothy Chandler, who represented Eintracht at every youth level after joining the club as a 10-year-old, has made 199 competitive appearances for the first team to date, with his last outing coming against VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 34 of last season.

Having moved to Frankfurt from Sportfreunde Oberau 25 years ago – in summer 2001 – Chandler swapped Eintracht for 1. FC Nürnberg in 2010 and went on to make 102 appearances for the Franconian side. He rejoined the Eagles in summer 2014 and has remained with the club ever since, winning both the DFB Cup and the UEFA Europa League in his second spell with Hesse outfit.

The 36-year-old has now extended his Eintracht contract by another year. In addition to his playing duties, Chandler will gain valuable experience off the pitch, including insights into various departments of the ProfiCamp at Deutsche Bank Park.

Sporting director Timmo Hardung said: “Timmy is an important player and a valuable team member in several respects. He’s a role model for our young players in particular – he leads by example off the pitch with his attitude and professionalism. He brings a wealth of experience to our dressing room, he’s a positive character and is fully committed to Eintracht Frankfurt, which is why we’re very excited to continue our journey together.”

Chandler added: “Everyone knows how much Eintracht Frankfurt means to me. This club is my home in a sporting sense – and my family.

“I’m fit, healthy, and I’m still in good shape physically. I’m convinced I can continue to help the team with my experience on and off the pitch – above all by helping us recapture that Eintracht spirit.

“We’ve just had a difficult season, and both my heart and my head are telling me that I’m not done here yet. Along with the boys and new coach Adi Hütter, I want to help us rebuild the Eintracht that was so strong and successful in the past. Our goal, as a city and as a club, has to be to rekindle the united force that set us apart throughout Europe.

“I already spoke with Markus Krösche last season about exploring different areas in the future, about shouldering responsibility and about furthering my education in those areas. As a player, this will probably be my last season – but you never know in football.”
