It will happen. There are too many good reasons to sign him. He is young, motivated and loves the club and he shows it in his interviews. We won't find a cheap alternative again. This is our only chance.
100% true. I am jumping out of joy about his return. He's one of our own, and hes evolved so much at Lyon. Hes an excellent striker even in a vacuum, and in the current context he's perfect and exactly what we needed. I find the 'at least hes better than Mayoral' comments insulting. Mariano is a class act and he will be a very important player this season. Expecting double digits in scoring from him. Honestly, couldn't have hoped for a better signing at striker. I would have loved Icardi, but with Benzema's resurgence and Icardi's price, bringing back our fellow canterano was the best move we can make. Their characteristics are very similar, with Mariano being much more professional, hardworking, better teammate AND three times cheaper. Welcome back Mariano! Now hes truly coming for the spot. What a story of climbing up the hierarchy and proving people wrong would this be. Totally deserved because hes grown so much as a player.
The way Benzema is playing they can play together. Things need to be rotated anyways. We'd essentially have five players for three spots.
Mariano is about the same age as Morata and Jese. If you told me five years ago that both Jese and Morata are nowhere near Real Madrid and Mariano is back, I would have laughed. I never heard of Mariano until 2 years ago.
You know what? This signing would provide the necessary comfort in the forward line. We need that hustle, pace and selfishness. Good luck Mariano (if it happens)! Also, all in all a (much) better option than Rodrigo considering the price. They are on a similar talent level. Good stuff.

Glad that he is back. All along I knew it was a bad call from Zidane to send him to Lyon and promote Mayoral. No one is perfect..
I don't think it was necessarily a bad call to send him out to Lyon, he developed quite a bit there. The bad call is that we should have done it a year earlier when we didn't need him sitting behind Benzema and Morata, and he could have been back last year and contributing.
