Messi is the more popular choice. Even if Madrid had won the CL, Messi would still win it. Ronaldo needs to be the best player at the Euros to win it.

I think Ronaldo already won it, nobody wants Messi to win it 4 times in a row. Plus, most journalists agree that Ronaldo has had a more successful season, and dont forget not many gave a shit when Ronaldo broke the goal scoring record last season, and he was miles ahead of Messi back then. Now Messi is "only" 5 goals ahead of Ronaldo in La Liga and "only" 2 goals ahead of Gomez in the UCL. I would give it for both if I can, and this is where I feel the Balon d'Or and WPOTY should not have merged, but if I had to choose one would be Ronaldo for sure.

I do blieve Ronaldo is in the lead, but we all know about the media bias toward him. Messi can get away with it those two years. Ronaldo? There are many Man Utd and Barcelona fans in this world. He better makes sure.

BTW, Ronaldo got Di Maria and Higuain playing with him. He scored 40 plus goals. Messi got Di Maria and Higuain..... he makes Robinho looked liked Pele. Of course, I am just kidding. It takes more than two teammates to affect their performances.
