For El Tri, for Mexico, if you guys had to put together a starting 11 for Qatar 2022 then who would be in your starting 11 right now...this is merely for fun but I obviously wanna pick your guys' brains on this
Adolfo Ríos Salvador Carmona Claudio Suárez Joel Sanchez Miguel Herrera Alberto García Aspe Ramón Ramírez Braulio Luna Luis García Cuauhtémoc Blanco Carlos Hermosillo
GK- Rodolfo Cota LB- Jesus Gallardo CB- Nestor Araujo CB- Carlos Salcedo RB- Jesus Corona CDM- Edson Alvarez CM- Hector Herrera CM- Erick Gutierrez LW- Hirving Lozano RW- Carlos Vela CF- Raul Jimenez (4-3-3 for El Tri for 2022)
Ochoa (Subs: Orozco or Cota) Chaka Rodriguez -Araujo - Salcedo - Gallardo (Subs:Romo, Montes, Mozo) Hector Herrera Carlos Rodriguez (Subs: Alvarez , Cordova, Pizarro) Hirving Vela Tecatito (Subs: Piojo Alvarado, Pizzuto) RJ9 ( Subs: JJ Macias, Martin or Vega) 4-2-3-1
I like Lafefut and Ofori's list. * But playing Corona RB is a waste of his talent. * 4-2-3-1 for the win...if only Carlos V returns * Don't rate chaka rodriguez (hopefully by 2022, someone 'new' wins the spot) * if salcedo/araujo/alvarez one of them can outperform as a RB...that would be perfect. I prefer backline of 4 (and tata prefers 4-3-3, but this is an alternative Option -3-4-2-1). ....................................Ochoa.................................... ...............Salcedo.......Alvarez...........Araujo............... Corona..........Herrera...........Rodriguez........Gallardo ........................Vela...........................Lozano............. ....................................Jimenez..................................
Call me overly ambitious or zealous in a 4-2-3-1 i would replace Vela is he couldnt make it with el Chapito Montes if he could still somehow make it. Call me crazy but he is an extremely good 10 and probably what makes Leon FC. Will duck now just in case.
Or another 11 you can go with: GK- Memo Ochoa (playing in last World Cup) LB- Jesus Gallardo CB- Nestor Araujo CB- Carlos Salcedo RB- Fernando Navarro CDM- Jonathan Dos Santos CM- Hector Herrera LAM- Hirving Lozano CAM- Carlos Vela RAM- JJ Macias CF- Raul Jimenez (4-2-3-1)
Mexico bare minimum now for El Tri is quarter finals in 2022 But then 2026 as one of the 3 hosts however, as Mexico has at least home advantage being one of the 3 hosts. Mexico bare minimum with it being 48 teams, Mexico will get to Round of 32 but they should get to Round of 16 or QF.
I could agree with you on Corona, but you could also say that it puts more top players on the field and more players that the opposition needs to worry about. Imagine the other team needed to worry about what Corona can do from the RB position? tell me that doesn't bid well for us?
It does but can Mexico overcome the curse that has been following them by getting through the group stage and then getting eliminated right in the Round of 16. I mean with my 11 that I put together, I know with that 11 minimum Mexico can get to quarter finals
I like your list sans Cota and Gutierrez. Honeslty, Cota hasn't really proven to be starting material, although, being fair, no one has shown enough to overtake Ochoa. And Gutierrez has been very inconsistent both in PSV and in Mexico. He shouldn't start when you have, for example, Carlos Rodriguez, who's really goddamn good.
Ochoa by 2022 Memo he will be 37 years old as a keeper. Will he be able to still be the same Memo Ochoa for Mexico that he has been in the past? Yeah I will agree with you though on Carlos Rodriguez
Hard to know. Two and a half years away from Qatar he still seems to have the athleticism and reflexes that make him so good, however, none of the guys behind him seem to have shown enough to be anything other than average backups and the guy who has the physical traits and talent to be more than that (Sebastian Jurado), made the dumb move of signing with a team with an already established veteran (from years) and hasn't gotten much playing time.
Unless there are injuries I see it tough for him to beat up Jiménez and/or Macías. Specially since he moved to MLS.
Also the fact that Jimenez and Macias are both younger but I would probably go Jimenez up front by himself
A more updated Mexican 11 (4-2-3-1) GK- Hugo Gonzalez LB- Cristian Calderon CB- Edson Alvarez CB- Nestor Araujo RB- Miguel Layun CDM- Jose Ivan Rodriguez CM- Hector Herrera (captain armband for 2022 squad) LAM- Diego Lianez CAM- Hirving Lozano RAM- Manuel Jesus Corona CF- Raul Jimenez Bench GK- Rodolfo Cota, Raul Gudino LB- Jesus Alberto Angullo, Gerardo Arteaga CB- Carlos Salcedo, Cesar Montes RB- Luis Rodriguez, Jorge Sanchez CM- Jonathan Dos Santos, Erick Gutierrez FW- JJ Macias, Jairo Torres So including the bench it makes it a Final 23 for Qatar 2022
Ehhh, Gudiño can't even keep a starting spot and his career is in shambles. And again, nobody has done anything to send Ochoa to the bench, let alone out of the team. Miguel Layún is on the downside of his career and even in his prime was an average at best defender. Also, I wouldn't let Jesús Gallardo out yet. Jairo Torres hasn't done much to distinguish himself above other players such as Henry Martín and Alexis Vega.
We all know that teams won't change too much from the previous 2 years prior to wc except for a couple surprises or young guys. No way it has that many new guys compared to most recent call up of Martino
I heard that Emmanuel Aguilera who will be in his 5th year next year in Mexico would be interested in playing for Mexico. He’s a LCB, I believe which we don’t have other than Moreno. I don’t follow America much, but is he any good and be good enough to be called up?
