If you had one (and only one) question for the Revs front office, what would you ask?

Bilello's too broken-up over the "hurtful" manner in which Revolution supporters make their "sentiments" known in internet communities such as BigSoccer and Defend The Fort. He's undoubtedly seeking counseling to deal with the emotional pain caused by our pointed critiques.

 

Heh. Next year they'll start another fan website to get away from us mean mean people who post about the team...

 

Here's an idea for the FO

If a club like Liverpool can view itself as able to improve the fan experience/off-field, shouldn't the Revs feel the same way?

You have got to be kidding me.

 

By that you mean...?

a) The Revs don't need to improve themselves off the field, why would you give the FO a link to a fan survey!

or

b) The FO wouldn't do market research of their loyalest customers in a million years.

I don't know what I'm kidding you about, please clarify.

 

I think his point was that the Revs have done surveys of STH's over the last couple of years about a number of topics. The thing the FO could learn from in this one is that it's written in a "what we've learned from you" way that makes fans feel more part of the process (whether they get the desired result or not).

 

If that's the case then he's missed the point on the LFC survey. As you said, it's written in a way that provides feedback back to the fans. What the Revs need to do is not just survey the STHs (I was a STH in 2006 and 2009 and wasn't surveyed or ever contacted either time in any way, shape or form). As Liverpool did, they need to get the occasional fan or the fans that came for their first match. As has been said on this board before, it's not the regulars (ie STHs); it's the market that never came back that the Revs should seek answers to why that was the case. Just STHs is too limiting and doesn't give you a broader picture of why they keep losing customers every year.

It would be a worthwhile exercise for the Krafts to do (if they cared enough to do it).

I completely agree, but at this point i would just like to see the results of the surveys that we have taken and to hear about some of the improvements or changes that have been made (or are in the works for next year) as a direct response to those surveys

 

Problem is, those "changes" are all lip service. They'll keep dancing around the core of the issues until they understand the issues better.

 

My question to the FO:

How worried about the Revs on and off the field performance are you as an organization? If not worried, why? If worried, what are your next steps?

Not worried..and who are you to ask me what my next steps are? Don't you know that I've spent tons of money to bring soccer to New England? I've gone and built, you ungrateful heathens, a beautiful stadium with a ton more bathrooms than the old high school bleacher stadium had. I bring plenty of International soccer for all you illegals. And what thanks do I get?? Whiney whiney on Big Soccer. Honestly..I don't know what to do anymore!! Maybe I should buy the rights to Barney as our new team mascot!!

I took the liberty of copying some of these questions and moving them over to defendthefort.net, Brian Biello is currently in the process of answering them. Now I tried to do it in such a way that it was not bitter, attacking or trying to get in anyones face because i'm sorry you'll never get anything that way (I guess I de-bigsoccer'd them). It would be nice that if people do post on that thread there that they respect the ideas of opening a dialogue and not bringing the krafts suck, FO sucks, do you have a f*ucking clue mentality... we're all adults and maybe if we act like them we might actually be able to learn something or at least get answers from those that have them or should have them without them putting thier guard up.

 

Everyone always asks the "Why can't I buy Revs gear in Boston" question. Go to the Olympia Sports in the Prudential Center, and tell me they don't have Revs gear.

 

While I have seen it there... and I am there somewhat regularly, more often than not I don't see it

I'm looking forward to his reply. I hope to get some real insight into how they do things and a little transparency. They certainly don't owe us this and I don't expect much, but I think it would go a long way to helping those of us who are enormously discourage by the organization right now (beyond the on the field stuff). Even if the answer turns out to be

(say on attendance for example)... we thought we had a strategy and thought it would work because .... we were wrong. we don't know how to fix it. we are considering ..... or this is our new strategy.....

or

kraft (in general/commitmennt) he is not going to make a major investment in the team right now, or he is very worried about the viability of this team in this market.

stadium- is it off the table for now/. how active is the persuit...


I'd rather have an answer I don't like than a fluff/company line.

if I hear "kraft is committed to soccer" one more time I'm gonna freak. tell us what that means and give us a sense of what we can expect as fans. what are some his goal and visions? is it just to play day to day and win under the cap structure? I don't care. what the answer is, just give us the real answer

 

It's meaning depends on what your understanding of the word "is" is.

 

Kraft is "committed" to having all Revs fans committed to the madhouse. Seems fairly clear to me.

 

And that's only one store in Boston. Stick your head into any random sporting goods store in the city and the odds are overwhelming you won't find anything. The one that kills me is the Adidas store in Harvard Square that sells other soccer jerseys.

EDIT: I must I'm impressed Bilello is doing this. Credit where credit is due.

Our trajectory may be headed to how those Rapids fans feel. BB may be in a damned if you reply - damned if you don't reply situation (and the former is much, much better), but they need to know that some of the remaining fanbase is feeling that way.
