Put away the gazillion thruballs Ronaldinho puts through in every game you're gonna be devesating next year! I've been watching Barca since Gaucho went there and it often looks like he's on a higher wavelength to those he playing with. They seem to fluff alot of chance by not being ready to receive the 'perfect' through balls Gaucho constantly supplies. I shudder to think what somebody like Vieri or Shechenko espeically would do in a season of feeds from Gaucho. Trezeguet is decent but he's not the fodder that Gaucho needs.. you're gonna need to get someone fast and intelligent enough to read Gaucho's movements..Makaay comes to mind..Ruud wouldv'e had a field day with such a supply line but he's ours what do Barca fans think? Who would you ideally like to see on the end of those sublime passes?
Well..any top level striker. Kluivert is often injured and wants too much money. Larsson and Vieri are both in the 30s. We need a younger striker w/ physical presense and the ability to score ruthlessly.
As we all know, our Strikers inability to FINISH has been a sore spot on these boards for some time now. I am on record as not thinking that Trez is the answer to this dilemna. I wish I knew who the answer is......
good question DS, unfortunately pure breed strikers are officially in extintion, I wish we could make a poll with the target man we'd like to see as our 9 next season and see our selection signed, but we are only allowed to dream. I wish we could sign an all terrain forward, a proven goalscorer and my pick would be a mix between Bobo Vieri (but healthier) and Hernan Crespo (yet again healthier) with prowess, flair, good at headers, powerful shot and the ability to actually "read" the game. **sigh** I hope Bobo's last years are ahead of him and signs for the blaugrana
Dark Savante expressed exactly what I was thinking when I saw the game on replay....Dinho is thinking faster than his strike force. He could have used Saviola. [To think at the beginning of the season some on the ManU board tried to convey a "good riddance" attitude and said that he was too selfish to pass the ball....you think they are re-thinking this?] Back on point... DFR, your man plays for Sao Paulo FC. He is "O Fabuloso" ....Luis Fabiano....The Fabulous One....and he would come a lot cheaper than a Euro based striker of european or s.american descent.....if not for Ronaldo he would be the starting striker for Brasil. He's got speed, anticipation and power. His only issue is a temper. Tevez also is great, but I like him more as support striker than the goal poacher, and he'll come more expensive as he's already made his name. I view Tevez as more of a Saviola type, different strengths, but similar in their effectiveness. You don't need both. I'll be rooting for Barca against Madrid (btw when is it?) cheers
i really think adriano would be very good. obviously the neazurri just fully acquired him so i think it might be a moot point. another target man i really enjoy is fernando cavenaghi at river. he really reminds me of crespo in his ability. however i know the problems with EU and all. lets forget larsson. i vote we sign for vieri as he is proven in big leagues and la liga in particular.
You guys need someone like a younger Shearer - skilful, a complete and utter ball hog, but very very good at scoring goals. He'd have no trouble taking advantage of Ronnie's exquisite thruballs to cover himself in glory
I was heartbroken when he went to Barca..many other Man U fans used false bravado to mask their disappointment. I'm on record, as you know, proclaiming 2 years ago that Gaucho will be the best #10 in the world. I think he is more devestatng than Zidane because of his range of passing, direct dribbling, unpredictability and his speed but, Gaucho needs to take the reigns a bit more during games.Maradona style...be a bit more selfish at times and go for goal himself rather than having yet another of his thru balls go to waste. Kezman Fabiano Oliviera (Ex Santos) Vieri Shevchenko Torres Adriano Van Nistlerooy Cisse Are the handful of strikers that come to mind. Of that list only Shevchenko - VNR aren't really possibe but all the others (especially Vieri) could be snapped up in the summer. Vieri is my #1 choice Bobo is a machine when motivated he is still in the top5 on earth .. I would have loved to have seen Batistuta or Romario play with Gaucho...Good Lord....
agree completly. Ronnie linking up to Luis Fabiano would be just amazing. He reminds me a little of Ronaldo pre injury days, just amazing skill speed and accurancy. If barça are planning to sign gilberto which is non Eu, then they must have a plan to free up a spot.
Fernando Torres? I am one of the good riddance few, not saying he aint talented but his antics and demeanor would not have cut it at old trafford... i mean SAF could not even stand Becks' wife... there was no way he was gonna put up with someone who wanted a helicopter to take him to London every night... damn nonsense, but of course I recognize his tallent... only idiots would question that...
What? he doesn't tackle or play defense? ok...If Scholes would STOP tackling you wouldn't give up so many free kicks.
There is another player which I would add to the lists already posted. And that man would be Samuel Eto'o. He's young, fast, and deadly. Only 2 problems are that he's Non-EU and RM own part of his contract. But all the names given are great strikers that have proven themselves with their current teams and would do great in Barca. There is one aspect to remember though: you can't rely on two men to score. Just because Saviola and Kluivert have missed many oportunities given by Gaucho doesn't make them bad strikers or non-effective. What is certain is that we need new blood with the working spirit and determination of Saviola in the body of Kluivert or at least bigger than "el Conejito". If Saviola were a little bigger and stronger we would be humming a different tune. An effective attack relys on more than 2 deadly players. As long as Barca have different deadly players, the more chances of scoring and opening up spaces to passes they will have. Also, I have to disagree with those of you that believe Larsson isn't Barca material. I do believe that his signing shouldn't condition the signing of another worldclass striker. Larsson has the experience and the goals to become Pichichi in Spain, no doubt. I say sign Trez and Larsson, one is fast and the other is a finisher.
u a-hole!!! i was going to bring up luis fabiano-lol anyway i have nothing to say on him since you said it. and personally i dont think him being a non-eu is that bad. get rid of marquez and use oleguer or buy milito. you are also correct in regard to carlitos, he is a deadly finisher when needed to be but he is a support striker. better with the ball and creating plays and wrecking havok. and ya fernando cavenaghi would be another good #9. only thing bad about those 3 is they are unproven in europe, but i think it is well worth the risk, especially with the 2 argentinians.
kezman has been playing well in the uefa cup and is on a free this sumemr isnt he? and is oliviera ricardo oliviera from valencia? if so then ya he is very good, not sure if he is th ebest choice tho. and tpmazembe where u from in miami? i live in west broward near pines.
Juve now playing coy about Trez's availability.....
could be a blessing in disguise. I really like the attitude we're giving them (15 mil max) I hope we don't budge. The latest from Mundo though is really interresting for me: They say that Barca is willing to give PK9 another chance, chance to prove himself in the remaining 9 games. If he returns to the old "Hat-Trick" Kluivert, then he'll stay one more year, and then who knows what happens next year. I would looove for this to happen. Kobra, u with me on that? Keep PK9, keep Saviola,(sign Davids, no brainer) bring Larsson free, then spend the extra cash elsewhere...VDV, Luque, Sneijder...and now Giggs...how accurate is soccerage usually?? Cuz this could be huge...Giggs is still hot-damn aweeesome!!!
Soccerage is about as accurate as a blind skeet shooter. It was posted on April 1. Arpril Fools joke or not, I doubt this one is even close to true. A real left footed dangerman couldn't hurt though.
I have no problem keeping PK9 if we don't try and shoe-horn him into a position he is not really meant to play. We keep using him like a target, and he just insn't. I am not sure where he fits on Ronaldinho's team, and yes this is Ronaldinho's team now, that has ot hurt PK9 a little bit. I still think we should part ways with PK9, but I agree with the rest of your post bring in Larsson on the free, and one of the aforementioned players, but maybe instead of Trez we go for 1) grooming of Sergio Garcia, and 2) Luque
Finishing man... he dont have the finishing skillz... he was overpriced as it turns out... on a team without Ronnie and Saviola he might stand a chance of becomming a withdrawn striker... but not at this club...
I disagree I saw Quaresma play when Barca came over to play in the preseason tourney in the USA and he was great whenever he did get those crosses in he would take on like 3 players and then beam that ball onto the head of Saviola and he is not a one trick pony like many believe he had a lot of moves but with little experience to show and the inconsistency of these moves he is unpredictable. We should opt for the same operation ManU (yes ManU) are using with Cristiano Ronaldo they bring him in for a few games or at the end of the important games and yank him out again for more training. Both these portuguese wingers are very talented and one of them will turn into the new Figo but if we lag behind it will ceratianly be Ronaldo. And just to tell you what Im talking about Ronaldo has never scored a goal this season with his head and this weekend he popped up and smashed the ball into the corner of the net way out of the reach the goalie. We need Quaresma to do this with him one the right Luis Garcia on the left and Ronnie in the center backed up by Davids and Xavi with one hit man this team will score billions of goals and have the defence to back em up One more thing with regards to that hit man it could ceratainly be either of the ones now at Barca. But if we are looking to dip into the transfer market I dont think Trez would be a good idea he has some experience of course but if we are going for youth go with someone like Ibrahimovic he can be cut throat with that ball or maybe Adriano if you could only pry him away from Inter even just on loan or a season. But I think if we are going to go all out next year and reclaim the La Liga title. I think we need to look at an experienced man. Im surprised no one has looked at the wealth of strikers at Roma. Only two are ceratin to stay (Totti and Cassano) That leaves the likes of Delvecchio (killer and will go on the cheap), Carew (they need to get rid of him anyways cause they cant afford him and he is already proven in La Liga with Valencia), my pick however would be Montella "the little airplane" he is quick as lightening and if healthy for a full season would easily score the most goals in Serie A he may be a little up there in age and a little small but Saviola has stood up to a lot of abuse and Montella is a machine (small one though)
