I grew up with the Chicago Sting and Tampa Bay Rowdies, so since there's no team in Tampa anymore, I think I'd have to say the Fire by default.
It would probably be Chicago Fire. Although there are a number of stick throwing hoolie wannabee's that would need to get their asses kicked first.
DCU would be my choice. in 96 I was a DCU fan / Revs fan. I joined the military the year after and just became a flat out Boston fan for every sport. I could identify with them having lived there my first 18 years and couldn't really identify with any other pro sports team outside of Boston so.. only makes sense. It took me leaving to become a die hard
Probably Toronto FC because they are new. I cannot picture myself really supporting anyone else in MLS other than the Galaxy.
Crack... Would you mind sharing with the rest of us? (yes, I realize your post used sarcasm, intensely)
im an FCD fan thru and thru, but if you made me choose someone who wasnt fc dallas, id say KC or Revs
New England, New York or Toronto. Most of the other teams are situated in parts of the country that I hate (the South, most of the Midwest, and the Mountain States) and the Galaxy are ********ing awful.
houston. used to live there and they are an exciting team. not sure what will happen when philly starts up
I guess if NY didn't exist i would have ended up as a Fire fan too. I lived in Milwaukee for college and knew a lot of teamates that played for the Fire Reserves. So i guess i probably would have ended up a fan of thiers if NY wasn't around.
The only other city I could support is San Diego. Especially if they built a nice stadium near the beach. As it is, if SD was to ever get a team I'd root for them as my second team. I'm talking like 1 notch above other MLS teams, and 1000 notches below DC United. But if DC was to fold, I can see myself becoming a hardcore SD fan especially since I see myself living out there again in the future.
LA Galaxy. I lived in LA for 17 years and supported the team from day 1. I even have a Year one Mauricio Cienfuegos Galaxy Jersey. Although not a very attractive kit, It is quite a collectors item. : ) Of course I will support the Sounders when they move to MLS! ; )
I've always been a fan of Dallas, but if I didnt support them I'd support various teams depending on who they had on their roster. I used to like the Metros because of Donadoni and Ramos, the Mutiny b/c Valderamma, Wise, Diallo, and I never was a big Tottenham fan(i know they're not in MLS), but I really enjoyed watching Ginola play. I could find myself watching the Crew b/c Guillermo or DC for Emilio. But who knows? I'd rather be watching Dallas w/Toja, Richetti and Denilson.
DC has the best fans in MLS, so probably them, after that, probably toronto. thats an awsome place to take in a match.
In the past, NYRB, but when they were the MetroStars and LA of the inaugural season when they had Cobi and Robin Fraser. But currently, I'd say New England, DC, or Chicago.
Prior to this season, I really did not care much for MLS. It is only because of Toronto getting into the MLS that I started to follow it. When finally exposed to the quality of play, though not great, was better than what I expected and that is what turned me into an "MLS" fan rather than just a "Toronto" fan. So in short, I guess I wouldn't be watching MLS at all if Toronto wasn't in the league.
Honestly, I got into MLS because I saw Clint Mathis play for the USMNT, so if there were no MetroStars, I'd be supporting whichever team he was on. That said, if I had to pick a team based on something other than where a player was... I enjoyed the rivalry between LA and SJ, but it's LA, and I feel compelled to hate it, so I guess I'd have to be a Quakes fan...
My team was taken away and I could not bring myself to support any other. Not even the popsicles as I tried to tell myself it the same team and I could root from afar. I can appreciate the Perra Bava and D.C. United as I envy their number of stars. I had a soft spot for Dallas (brief stay in Texas) when MLS started but Ruiz took care of that. Hypothetically, I could give a rat's ass about the MLS if I could not root for the San Jose Earthquakes.
If I did not support the Galaxy I would not support any other MLS team. I only care about L.A. b/c I live here, I could care less about any other city. Lakers,Angels,Ducks and G's are all the teams I care about, F***** everyone else I'd watch Euro football instead of MLS, MLS quality is pretty bad/boring IMO. I had the DK package and I cancelled it, its hard to watch the matches, so boring except for a few games here and there
