This is such nonsense. Part of his troubles as a player has been that he is way too rough in multiple aspects. He's not a great man defender, just physically gifted enough to compete vs players that aren't as afar as that can take him. He's not good enough offensively to be a productive option on the final third of the pitch by providing end product. That's the reason why coaches tend to use him as an additional option, but never as their first option, because he's not particularly great at any certain skill. He's competent enough as a player, and has a very good build to take that into a very prolific football career.

It's not even a diss towards the player, he's playing top level football so he is within that range of 300-400 players that you could define as "the best" in what they do, but you're here waxing poetic abouit a player like Javi Garcia making him sound like Essien in the process.

    Just nonsense.

The only thing that is true is that he is not a scoring threat. But defensively its a completely wrong assessment. It doesnt matter whether you do the job because of positioning sense or athleticism, as long as you do it. Looking at Kovacic in isolation puts him in a bad light. But a midfield pairing made of a playmaker that can shoot (James/Isco/Ceballos) and a defensive specialist that can also shoot (Casemiro) would be perfectly complemented by a player like Kovacic. Valverde has a similar effect. People are raving about his performance against Granada, but forget how many performances like that Kovacic had for us.

We need him to avoid injury over this break badly.

First, if Zidane is smart he will rest Casemiro against Mallorca so he won't be in danger of missing El Clasico.

Secondly, we will need Valverde's energy badly for Galatasaray and barca. It would be a gamble to start him three games in a row.

Hopefully Zidane gambles against Mallorca and plays Militao holding with Modric and James in midfield. Support them with Isco, Jovic and Vinicius.

Then against Galatasaray and barca we bring out the big guns and go Case, James/Modric and Valverde.

He defends, and attacks worse than Casemiro. There, I painted that picture for you.

Valverde attacks and spreads play much better than Casemiro hence why he complements him. Kovacic can do nothing well that other players can't do better. He's good at plenty of skills but not great at one skill that will give him a starting job. Kroos has one skill and that took him to superstardom. Kovacic never had that one skill to separate himself from others.

He does, he can bring the ball out of the back with his acceleration. You can use a player like that to break through lines of opponents pressuring you high up. Thing is, you face teams that will press that high up maybe 4-5 times a season, and he is nothing special with his distribution or defending so we can do without him for rest of the games. There is a reason why he only stood out for us when playing against Barcelona and in the big CL games.

    Not too far off actually.
Casemiro is an aerial threat on crosses into the area and corners and has a good shot. He’s scored plenty of goals using these two skills..

Kovacic creates a lot more opportunities for others though. Few midfielders can take out players, break down opposition lines and unsettle defensive structure like him.

I have waited for him to do this on a consistent basis, but he never does. You see these flashes out of him, and you are fascinated but as @-Fifth CharM- said, he is 25 and still unfulfilled potential.

Plus Casemiro has developed that diagonal over the top pass. Ahead of Kova in almost every aspect (and people claim he's limited).

Kova himself didn't think he could get out of Modric's shadow, which is why he left.

Anyway Valverde is at a similar age/level as Kova was when he arrived, let's see where he ends up.

By the way, having Fede in the team makes a potential VDBeek transfer (as that's still something being discussed in the media at times) completely unnecessary. That's a huge positive in my book. Fede is a better all-round player that compliments Casemiro and Kroos/Modric/James very well. The reason why the club was apparently interested in VDBeek was his engine and energy, Fede as abundance of that (and more). Look at different targets, Perez. Thank you!

No he didn't, in fact that's one of the things that he was most criticized for during his loan with Chelsea. This is just another one of your "the grass is greener" rambling posts.

Dude I'm a Croat and Kova is on my profile pic(simply because he's next to Modric and a fellow NT) and yet I can say that you're spewing BS.

We all loved Kova, he decided to go to Chelsea on a loan. Wouldn't be a problem if he didn't force it. We needed him as a first mid sub last year. Then he left and deleted RM pics like a little cuck.

He's 25 and like Pogba he seems like he'll never fulfill his potential. He could have developed under Modric and Zidane but now he's off to fight against freaking Barkley for a starting position.

Morata, Llorente, Kova etc. Grass isn't always greener.

    Kovačič typical player who
Agree 100%. Kovačič one of those good player, huge potential, but always will lack some things to really show that potential on the field. For real to show.

It's ridiculously hilarious that Pogba's brother is giving all these 'insights'. Great stuff!

The kid is under real pressure now.

Two good games and he's being compared to Pogba. A player who was killing it in Juventus, while Fede was a prodigy in Penarol.

Give him time to prove himself. Hopefully, he turns as good as Casemiro and not another Gago.

While watching him at Castilla he, indeed, seemed like Pogba-type player. Fast and technically gifted, glazing through middle with ease. When he come to the first team, I was bit surprised that he's BTB/destroyer more than creator, I always though he was on the technical side.
But, I explained to myself that it's easy to be technical in 2nd division B where every opponent reacts few seconds slower, so I concluded he's probably probably bang average technically on this level and he'll just do destroying job. It would be wonderful if he's really top tier on that side, too. I can't decide at the moment.

LOL Pogba is also 6 yrs older than Fede. Quite pathetic from Chringuito to have this guy as a commentator.
