For me its the cross to Ronaldo in the CL final against Juventus and that wondergoal against Barcelona few years ago which ended Messi's era there. So many moments that will live on forever.
Nothing to say that hasn't already been said, Luka, thank you and all the best in your future endeavors, as noted many times already, best mid i've ever had the pleasure to watch, Luka not being a part of this club will be odd, i will absolutely miss his football and presence..... we move on
Hard to recognize that this day has come, but it was expected. I thought Xabi wanted to extend him but I guess the upper heirarchy want to move on and make the midfield younger. Also, with the world cup a year away and Modric wanting to play in it, Real Madrid probably wouldn't provide him enough minutes to stay sharp. Regardless, Lukita is my favorite midfielder of all time after Zizou. He is the most complete, and without a doubt the greatest midfielder Real Madrid has ever seen. He was a gift that kept on giving. I still remember that absolute golazo he scored against Man Utd (with Sir Alex still in charge) to help Madrid mount a comeback and win in the UCL. There are far more that I couldn't possibly list here. The Ballon D'Or was fully deserved. Fans everywhere respect and recognize him. Irreplacable. Many would call the last decade and a half the Cristiano Ronaldo era. To me, it was the Luka Modric era. The one constant in all that success. Thanks for everything, Luka Modric. Wish him nothing but the best in his future.
Damn, our legend had one more year, but it's clear management wanted to move him on this year at all costs. He gave his all and I love Lukita. No player has provided as much offensive and defensive product ever.
Hard to replace someone who did everything great not mention a great guy and became a leader at the tale end of his career. I will still root for him wherever he decides to play next season.
For me it always goes back to the 2014 first leg semifinal against Bayern at the Bernabeu, I was way more nervous than I should be sitting on my sofa, but Luka that night was insanely cool. Bayern were extremely well coached, they held the ball and pressed really well as a team … by the end of the game Luka walked off with around 95% pass accuracy, I’d never seen anything like that performance from a midfielder before in those circumstances. GOAT.
Sometimes it's better to move on before you've overstayed and dilute your legacy. It's not likely, but look at the absolute warrior that was Lucas Vazquez. Some people will remember his horrible last season, instead of the incredible performances, mentality and penalties he gave this team before that.
a true legend and probably next best freak of nature athlete after CR. his partnership with Tony was also out of this world. I didn't understand if he's cashing in some oil money or retiring, but I hope the club will find him a position. I think he can add a lot of value.
It was inevitable. His legacy matches with Zidane. Put him in my DP in 2015-16 season. He will stay there till I find someone worthy.. Thanks for all the memories Lukita..
Modric captained Real to two trophies in his final season to take his haul to 28 titles, overtaking Nacho Fernandez as the club's most successful player. His tally includes the six Champions Leagues, six Fifa Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey triumphs and five Spanish Super Cups during his 13 seasons at Real.
It seems like the captain armband is cursed ever since Ramos left, whoever is captain leaves at the end of the season. 2021 Ramos, 2022 Marcelo 2023 Benzema 2024 Nacho 2025 Modric. RIP Dani. Glad Modric gets a proper farewell from the Bernabeu, once in a lifetime talent and personality.
GOAT can do it all in MF. Thank you for everything Luca, you have brought us so much joy over the years.
Let us not forget the all important La Decima 93rd minute header scored by Ramos was crossed from a corner by none other than Luka Modric. The guy is immortalized in Real Madrid's history.
Less of a curse, and more of a recognition and honor given to someone who is of arguably the greatest generation Real Madrid had in the modern era. It is bestowed as a final thank you before they bow out. It's symbolic anyways. We have been incredibly lucky to have lived through this era. It has been absolutely magical.
One of the club's GOATs and for me the 2nd best midfielder in history after Zidane. Gracias, Luka, you fvkcing legend.
Jude Bellingham's open farewell letter to Modric: Jude Bellingham’s letter for Luka Modrić 🤍📩“The only thing outweighing my sadness right now is the gratitude I feel for having had the honour of being your teammate. So many great memories on and off the pitch that I will treasure forever.Your magic was never a surprise and… pic.twitter.com/1r499i8SW5— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 22, 2025
Please share what you can from other or former players. Sometimes it's hard to find it all. It would be nice to have a wall of appreciation not only from us but from everyone in football here.
