IF BRUCE ARENA HAD TO CHOOSE A STARTING ELEVEN AGE 23 OR YOUNGER FOR A WORLD CUP QUALIFIER WHO WOULD IT BE? THIS TEAM COULD ALSO BE AROUND FOR THE 2010 WORLD CUP. PLEASE LIST YOUR STARTING 11.

It would probably look a lot like that friendly against Mexico not too long ago.

    Huh
Dont think so. I cant remember the exact lineup but McBride, Stewart, Armas, Pope, Hejduk, Mathis, and others. Remember too that Howard and Boca are over 23.

it would be basically whatever our olympic team starting 11 would look like...minus any overage players we might take along, so that u-23 friendly against mexico a month or so ago would be a pretty good indication save convery and SQ who stayed in d.c. for that game.

    DJ
    Lewis, Yi, Gray, Gooch
    Clark
    Beasley, Pause
    Donovan
    Esky, Jaqua

in that line-up replace pause with convey, add buddle up top in place of jaqua and you have a damn good u-23 lineup.

Hey Ant! You think that you are smart? Well you just met, Mr. Smarter.

You see, the line up of the game I was talking about only included u-23 players.

    May 14, 2003, US v. Mexico

    U.S. under-23 men

I guess that will teach you to think, won't it?

What Fidlerre says, but I'd probably put Martino in as the A-mid and bump LD up to take Esky's spot.

yea good call, i kinda forgot about martino...

actually those forwards <donovan/buddle> and midfielders <beasley/convey/martino/clark> are damn scary...now if that back line can materialize to be just as good..

I don't know, but there is a U-23 or younger Convey. I suspect Bruce would give him a long look.

Ricky Lewis, LA Galaxy defender. Last seen playing on Landon's U-20 team in Argentina....

sorry guys, i dont know how to do the quote thing, but all i have to say is i think that Landon donavan is more effective at the midfeild position, and that convey deifinetely should be in midfield.

I have to disagree and say that Landon, in my opinion, is in the mold of a striker, rather than mid. Every friendly that I've seen him in as a mid, as of late, he just doesn't seem to be that effective.

And here's a photo that shows you where to click on someone's post to quote them:

    Dunivant

    Hmm...

Todd Dunivant, SJ Earthquakes rookie, has started every game for the Quakes at left back. He played in the Earthquakes/USMNT practice game before the US/Wales game a few weeks back and scored a golazo from about 20 yards out to beat Rimando, and had an assist.

I'll bet Bruce will take a look at him with the US soon. He turns 23 day after Christmas.
