https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/clu...lub-soccer-announces-id2-tour-roster_aid45898 Looks like this year’s trip is to Belgium/France including a game against the PSG 2005s.
It's interesting that there are at least 2 DA players on that list. I though this was just for US Club?
Does anyone else remember the time Brek Shea went on one of these type of tours? Just a little reminiscing. Brek’s team played a game against an Atletico Madrid youth side and supposedly AM we’re smitten with him but not as an attacker but instead as a central defender. I think they even wanted to buy him and convert him. Well FC Dallas said no, they thought they would do it themselves. They told the media that Brek was now a center back and that was his permanent position. No going back to forward. They threw him directly into the deep end and started him at CB in league play almost immediately. He promptly got a red card in the first half of the first game he played. After his red card suspension, of course, he immediately switched back to forward and wound up almost winning the MVP soon thereafter. I’m probably incorrectly remembering some of the details, but whatever, it’s a fun story.
It wasn't one of these type of tours....These little kids are like 14 yr olds. I do remember the story but he was much older and not playing for an all-star team tour.
My son had a friend on the trip last year, which also had at least one current DA player on it. He said that because he attended the initial ID2 camp before he joined a DA he was eligible.
I think you remember it pretty accurately. That was when Hyndman was coach though. Brek was really good until he did something to his foot and was never the same afterwards. Seemed minor but I guess it wasn't like Bradley's ankle wasn't minor. Before that Shea ran and worked harder than anyone on the field. Now he hustles at times but then if someone stole the ball off him he took it personally and would run them down until they passed the ball even cheap shotting them in need be.
I'm pretty sure it was this game. https://sbisoccer.com/2010/12/mls-generation-adidas-team-trounces-atletico-madrid-reserves
