The Packers only made the playoffs on the 5th tiebreaker! This is a travesty! And whose idea was it to have this so late on a school night?!?!?!
Now that the 6 seed has won the Super Bowl, does that delegitimize the playoffs and the regular season and make the NFL look bush league?
Heck, just as bad, an under .500 team (Seattle) won a division and got to host a first round playoff game because of it. What next?
If the NFL had played a balanced schedule then yes. Since they didn't, a playoff seems the next best option. Or you could have had New England vs. Atlanta and be like the BCS. Unbalanced schedules make room for debate. Balanced schedules make 1 clear champion. (hint: It wasn't Colorado)
Don't know if it's being a dick...you mean big fans of astronaut rugby are very insecure about their sport? I try to pretend I have some clue or care about hand ball when people mention a game that was on because I'm a nice guy but I couldn't care less and didn't watch. Can't wait tell MLS first kick~o
That about sums it up. And by the way, thanks for coming to my high school to speak in 1985. You rocked, Billy!
Yep I just said the same thing onthe Revs about people calling it pointyball. Fans on here post article after article, TV comments about people hating soccer and blast them and ask for email campaigns . But yet they turn around and do the same thing to other sports on here, frigging hypocrites.
I was jus' messing around. When I'm not busy being an MLS fanatic (and a Padres honk), I love the NFL.
I am just pointing out MLS has had more losing teams make the playoffs in 15 seasons than the NFL in 91 and more losing record champions
It's probably a defense mechanism on those peoples' parts. That doesn't excuse it, though. I imagine most of us on here have done that at some point.
I just don't understand why soccer fans have so many hangups about what "real" soccer fans should or shouldn't do. As far as I can tell, there are no laws that say I, as an American soccer fan, have to therefore advocate for promotion and relegation. There are no laws that say that every time I have the desire to go somewhere to watch a match, it has to be an Irish pub or an English pub that serves bangers and mash and corned beef sandwiches instead of a place that serves wings and pizza. And I've damn sure never seen any regulations that require me to denounce all other sports simply because I like soccer. If you're not interested in the Super Bowl, don't watch. Nobody else f***ing cares what you do or don't do.
You guys have actually heard an American state they didn't like soccer because of the fans? Yeah, sure. I do know there are people ( on BS) who , in their minds, have created a archetype of a Euro snob that they project onto people they don't agree with because the person vocally expresses their dislike for another sport. Which, is basically the same thing fans of other sports do to soccer. But, they get a pass on their hate. When you get mad because someone doesn't like your sport, it's easier to just make things up, isn't it? People don't like Philly fans, therefore, Americans hate football, baseball, basketball, and Soccer. It's as absurd as calling the Super bowl - The American football final. I'm glad Pittsburgh lost, too.
Well yeah, but that's because a soccer game can end in a draw which makes a world of difference. RSL weren't really a "losing team" because they actually lost fewer times than they didn't lose. I watched the Super Bowl, but I would have rather been on BS. I don't really have anything against the sport, I'm more against the organization of the sport. Any sport where I have to watch more commercials than acutal game time just isn't going interest me.
