Well, OK, not the Nobel Academy, but all the Nortenos, Screaming Eagles and everyone else who helped out with the arrangements for the friendly. Without everyone's work, none of the fun we had yesterday would have been possible. I've not watched my tape, but I received maybe 20 or 30 calls last night from people around the country saying we looked and sounded great on TV. One friend of mine was concerned about the cold, because it looked like people kept starting fires in the stands It was a great way to end a great year. Nice to see SUPAH BEN score another and Victorine nutmeg the keeper right in front of me. Once again, thanks, and can't wait to see everyone next year. Everyone that was in La Norte, don't forget to sign up for the La Norte mailing list. Send a blank E-mail to the address in my sigfile. Sachin
I'll back this up-- the weather looked horrible (kept me from driving down), but La Norte looked fantastic. I wish I had braved the nor'easter and gone there.
I gotta admit, at one point late in the game we couldn't hear you guys and I didn't see any movement, so I tried to start up a good-natured round of "Can You Hear La Norte Sing?" going, but only a few people joined in. Great job organizing 120, Sachin! Dave
Great job everybody. We showed that camera that kept trying to invade our section. Keep pelting it with confetti and streamers!
Sadly, the long layoff after the MLS season has left us a bit out of form. It was nice to see the bouncing stands in effect again. Sachin
Todd, is there something you're not telling the rest of us? Me personally, I'd keep a comment like that to myself.. Not that there's anything wrong with that....
Heheh, and i know you guys liked all the young newcomers i brought in, all 11 of em, 5 of whom want to join La Norte next DC season. The best part about that camera when it came over on top of me and i threw basically an entire bag on confetti onto it, the guy who's boss was running the camera, made him clean it off, but he gathered it up and brought it back over to us so he could get photos of us throwing it. But what was the deal with Bubba standing right in front of us the second half of the game, that guy was freaking huge.
Having the security guards around us was surreal. They did everything they could to look away from us. Most of them said they wanted to jump around with us so they could keep warm too. Sachin
I want to specifically mention that I thought they did a good job with our section. They mostly cleared people off that were standing on their seats and made sure that other people didn't invade our section. I thought they did a great job letting people have fun, while still policing the section.
This is true. But, they let it smoke for a while before they heisted it. They let people jump up on the chair in celebration for a minute or so (after goals and such) before they bothered to make them get down. They weren't overly oppressive. I thought they did a good job.
