So I was thumbing through my FourFourTwo season preview the other day, and on the fan file for Kidminster Harriers there was the question of who was a young player to watch. The response from the supporter was "Ian Joy, young American full back" Can someone inform me on this kids history, and any possible youth national team experience? Excuse my ignorance, I'm really not an expert on YA.

    Midwest, the real one.
I don't know of him either, but i'm going to speculate: With a name like Ian, I wouldn't rule out dual citizenship with US and another country in the general vicinity of England- that is if he is a US citizen!

He is an american. Follow this link to see a picture......

    The link basically says this...

Ian was signed just before the start of the 01-02 season on a free transfer from Scottish club Montrose.

Ian, who was born in San Diego, USA on 17/7/81, started out at 1st Division Tranmere Rovers before moving to Stirling Albion in Scotland.

    Just what I found...

Ian is indeed an American citizen and has been in US youth pools.

I believe he was actually a regular with the U-20 team that featured Albright, Twellman, etc. but didn't end up making the squad. I don't have his information with me but I believe he may have played for at least one other club -- bouncing around a bit for such a young guy.

Never seen him play so I don't know how good he is.

I know he was a starter last season until he got hurt. I haven't heard anything about him since.
