Why did anybody have high hopes for this team? Really. This is a team that hardly got any points in away games during qualifying and had to count on the Estadio Azteca's altitude to win home games. I mean the loss to El Salvador during qualifying should have told you something. It should have told you that the team isn't that good. Anybody that thought otherwise watched one to many commercials for beer, life insurance, and satellite services featuring Tri players one to many times.

Every team in the World Cup sans Spain had to fight tooth and nail for away points, that's how it's been for awhile now in every region. Even contenders around the world barely scraped by even in groups that looked easy on paper.

There's still time that can still be salvaged if you just stop watching this shoddy World Cup marred by bad ref jobs and crap balls in an era with highly sophisticated technology that could of prevented this. More good luck to Argentina, win it all but I know I'm not watching anymore of this developing 2010 disaster.

We did better than Argentina in qualifying. They basically needed a miracle to qualify and they got one. So by your rationale, Argentina isn't really that good either.

 

I blame all this fail on Hugo Sanchez and his big defrauding mouth. Had he shut his mouth since the lavolpe days, we would have had a better, more qualified coach from the start of the 2010 WC cycle. Better results would have come, 07 Gold cup in our trophy case, maybe even Copa America, and quite possibly the Confed cup.
