He actually was doing basically that job last season when he'd invert into the mf. His passing and vision makes him well suited to the role and it helps to have mobile targets up top as we do though England did not.
As for Trents defensive abilities I think any frailties have been much over hyped by the likes of Gary Neville who has frequently dissed Trent and promoted Walker but we all saw the numerous mistakes Walker made in the Euro's. Most fb's will slip up from time to time as all footballers do as Walker showed too and he's rated as Englands best.

Never forget that Liverpool won pretty much every honour available in club football with Trent in our def.

If I were a top level pro in the way a TAA or Bellingham or Kvaradonna, the way my mindset it, I'd want a varied career - playing for different clubs in the big leagues, making a mark and winning cups along the way.

Star as a youngster for Club Brugge or Copenhagen. Earn my move to a big league.
I'd want to have won a Scudetto playing for Milan, pipping the cheaters at Juventus to the crown.
Taken in some Anfield nights on the way to a CL title.
Called a couple friends and convince them to sign for Valencia on Bosmans to see if we can break the never ending real/barca cycle.
Then head to Monaco for a couple years, living on the coast while taking the piss out of PSG.
Then take a victory lap in a retirement league for a year or two with a HUGE payday.

I'd want the challenge of having to constantly adapt to new leagues, cultures, teammates, managers, etc.
Even me, as a Liverpool fan, would have a hard time staying at Anfield forever, especially in a situation where I've already won everything and the manager I'm bonded to has just left.

But the grass isn't always greener somewhere else and I think there's much to be said about playing in front of your people who idolize you and sing songs about you .

He'll be well paid either way and my only worry is if Trent has developed a strong friendship with Bellingham and might want to play club football with him.

It’s also the life experience beyond the pitch. Trent’s been in Liverpool all his life - who among us have never left the city of your birth? I’d wager not many.

Not to mention holding multiple jobs throughout our career.

He doesn't seem to have the same spatial awareness or sense of timing.
Yes, he pop up there now and again in the system designed for him to do so.
But he's not really shown a great knack for the intangible side thus far.

    In the original post...
The reason TAA has never done particularly well as a "6" is that he takes too long to collect the ball and redistribute it. On the right flank he's got more time, and he used to be able to dribble forward while assessing is passing options. I don't think he sees the field as well in a 6 position, and he doesn't protect the ball consistently well from the much quicker press that he faces from the opposing midfielders and attacking players.

Liverpool chiefs have held a meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers to find out the status of Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to sign Athletic Bilbao ace, Nico Williams, this summer.

not sure why you're repeating that. Xabi was never a 6, Masch was. and I'm not suggesting Trent take that role.

Ross Barkley. The midfielder who was more than. He found a niche at (relegated) Luton as a deep lying playmaker. Not quite a 6, not really an 8, but very effective at both ends of the field.

Not as good as Xabi, but better defensively; better attacker than Mascherano, but not as capable a 6. These stirling displays for Luton last season got him CL football with Villa this upcoming season. So that’s 2 clubs that see the value in an attacking defensive deep lying playmaker. If only Liverpool had such a player.
