There is a positive feeling between Liverpool and Anthony Gordon - The club appreciate the player and Antony Gordon is keen to join (Fabrizio Romano)
Of course it sounds like that but it's very likely Romano is being swamped with loads of queries re Lpool transfer business . Liverpool are 1 of 5 Premier League clubs with no summer transfers so far.
Liverpool have rejected a £4m bid from Trabzonspor for Nat Phillips. They are understood to value the defender, who is also attracting interest from Burnley, at closer to £8m. More here: https://t.co/GEktuhX0sM— David Lynch (@davidlynchlfc) July 8, 2024 This is like the 6th summer in a row Liverpool turned down bids for Nat Phillips because they think he is worth more. How is he still a Liverpool player?
Turns out Edwards isn't the connoisseur maestro we've portrayed him to be all this time. We should be lucky anyone out there is prepared to offer anything for him...... and we're STILL being picky??
I know all of the excuses - Euros and Copa still being played, new boss hasn't had the chance to fully evaluate what he's got, etc. but I'm expecting a very uneventful and unsatisfying transfer window for LFC, one where all of our rivals out perform us. <sigh>
Doesn't the player have to also agree to terms? My guess is the reason we still have Nat on the books is that he's fine with just collecting his paycheck until his contract runs out.
apparently we are poaching a really top level youth prospect from Chelsea's academy (16 year old). and by poaching - Chelsea apparently have screwed up showing him a pathway to the first team by signing so many added youth players in his position. Chelsea fans are apparently very very upset.
With Adrian moving on, Liverpool intend to promote young goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros to Arne Slot’s squad. Liverpool are eyeing up a potential move for for Mainz’s Brajan Gruda. The Reds are linked with Turkish international Baris Alper Yilmaz after his impressive display against Holland.
you get the impression Nat has a short list of teams he's prepared to go to, and the club is doing all it can to help that happen. maybe. who knows. it's way beyond silly now.
Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Chelsea youngster Rio Ngumoha in a head-turning deal between the two Premier League clubs. The winger is just 15 years old and a Reds investment for the future but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool will 'break a historical wage structure' on Merseyside to ensure they complete a deal for Ngumoha. The Secret Scout had reported last month that Chelsea were struggling to convince the teenager to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer. At that time, several Premier League sides and European clubs had been in contact with the rising star as his contract in West London came to a close. It now appears that Liverpool have won the race for the player, who has regularly featured with the Chelsea under-18 squad despite being just 15 years old. Ngumoha is part of the England under-16 set-up but does also hold dual citizenship with Nigeria.
Fair point. I suppose they are in the same "wait until after the big tournaments are over" boat as we are. And while I should know better than to believe "impending signing" reports this time of year, seeing reports such as Arsenal having the inside track to sign the Italian CB we were supposedly after, gives me a sense of deja vu. Caicedo and Lavia last year, for instance. Maybe it's the whole "moneyball" method, wed with the return of Edwards, the guru of finding bargains. While I acknowledge the need to be financially sound, that time when we were scoring for fun, but shipping goals terribly and we went out and bought the best central defender and goalkeeper in the world seems like an eternity ago.
Probelm I have wuith that is that it would mean we are likely thinking to shop Luis Diaz. And if anyone is watching the COPA Americana they can see that it would be a good idea to keep him here.....
Per Romano - we’re working deals behind the scenes (obviously I jest) With Klopp - I think we sometimes limited our business due to his commitment to players - stubbornness. Certainly limited in spending but not to the degree some LFC fans believe. I think with the old/new/old setup, we’ll see less of keeping players beyond sell-by dates, towards a more forward looking approach based on anticipated needs Patience required - especially with a couple tourneys ongoing.
Nat to Burnley? The Liverpool Echo reported that Phillips could be heading to Burnley. The Clarets recently appointed Scott Parker to replace Bayern Munich-bound Vincent Kompany. The new Burnley boss was previously in charge of Bournemouth, and he led them to promotion to the Premier League with help from an on-loan Phillips. Indeed, Parker has given the center-back more minutes than any manager other than Jürgen Klopp, per Transfermarkt, and spoke warmly about the player after they worked together. “We brought him in in January and he was a driving force for us in getting promoted. An unbelievable professional, exceptional player in his moments,” he said.
