I run a soccer career/job website and a visitor recently sent me this video, apparently showing her daughter or sister practicing and playing in a boys indoors league game: http://www.videobookmark.com/Marinch/RMAR_300.asx (It's almost 5 minute long, so be patient while it is loading) Give me an honest opinion of this girl, based on what you've seen in the video. For the record, I told the guy who sent me the video that I think she has tremendous offensive skills. She appears to have great quickness, touch, vision, flair, shooting and passing skills - the complete offensive package, so to speak. She also appears to be good with both feet. Being only in highschool, she has tremendous potential to become a great player. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I see her play for the national team or WUSA some time in the near future.
It's hard to tell hwo good she is since we don't see much of her opponents level. Since it's a rec league this could be anything as there are rec leagues full of ex-college players and rec-leagues full of guys who started playing two years ago. In all honesty I think she looks very strong and has good leg strength and can obviously get a scholarship. The next Mia I'm not sure about until I see her with quality competition.
I think you can get a more fair evaluation by also posting this in the Youth Soccer fourm...which i believe now has an HS subfourm as well, alot of coaches read that fourm i believe.
Yes I agree that we cannot jump to conclusion because she's playing in a rec league. But I do believe that anyone with a good eye will tell you that she does have lots of potential. One thing I especially like about her is that she seems to have quite a bit of quickness and flair, which really makes her quite an offensive threat. I will post this in the youth forum and have some coaches look at her. Let's see what they'll say about her.
Fredrica Adu? Honestly, she does have potential, but I don't see "superstar" when I see her play. I have known several female soccer players who would have put this girl to shame. Not to be down on her skills, because she has got some (especially her dribbling and ball control), but I don't see her looking as good against talented players. The 1 v. 1 shots showed off her good touch, and some pretty good moves, but nothing spectacular. Her "opponent" in those shots was either lowing his level of performance to make her look better, or isn't really that good. Again, the rec league thing is hard to judge because the level of the opponents is relatively low. She's got potential, and will most likely play ball in college, but unless she drastically improves, I just don't see her as a women's star.
This is the next Mia Hamm/Charmaine Hooper The video wouldn't play smoothly for me, but the parts I did see , her opposition seemed a bit weak. It looked like house league guys out there...but that's just 1st impressions... Let's not forget that not everybdoy out there has made a video, we have nothing to base this girls skills on. I'm sure if every girl out there made a video we'd see even better girls.
ya...quite confident when I say that she probably would have been playing in the U-19 WC last summer had she been a CND citizen
She wasn't that impressive. A lot of her shots from point blank range were right at the keepers chest. Her ball control was descent, but nothing to write home about. Also, in the beginning, the goalie was letting the ball go in. In the outdoor dribbling stuff, it looks like the video was doctored by speeding it up.
