I really really want a feature that prohibits posting for one week after registration.

How many threads started by people from Europe posting the following:

" How could Beckham come to such a backward place ? "

    " Isn't Beckham having second thoughts ? "

" Beckham is too good for America "

does there need to be, before something is implemented to prevent newly registered "members" from posting for a week ?

Does there have to be 100 such threads ?

    1000 such threads ?

    10,000 such threads ?

There will easily be 10,000 such threads by the end of July - maybe 100,000 - all started by people with " Join Date: [this month] "...

I've got to agree with this.

Too many newbies are creating threads such as:

    "Beckham's gonna revolutionize US soccer."

"Watch out Eurosnobs!MLS's right behind you!"

"In five years,MLS clubs will be playing in Champions League!"

"US is soooo going to win World Cup 2010!"

And the problem is that posters on these threads are not necessarily noobs...

    You mean spam ?

    That's always a problem.

I moderate a Yahoo! Discussion Group, and new members' posts are automatically moderated, because a majority of them are spam. I then delete the post before it ever gets to the group, and ban the member.

In this case, it is not that the posts are against the rules, it is simply that the people are registering not to participate in Big Soccer, but instead just to find an outlet to bash "America".

    *shrug*

Yes, it is annoying (I got tired of reading that, so I don't spend as much time on Galaxy board much at the moment), but they will still bash USSoccer/MLS/Galaxy whether they have to wait a week or not. This is a very singular issue to Beckham.

Newbies (all members under ~50 posts) should not be able to start any threads.

Another forum i'm on has a 30/30/30 rule. Everyone starts out in a probationary status. During this period, 30 days must pass, AND the member must make 30 posts in order to graduate to regular member status. Until both of those periods pass, a member must wait 30 minutes between making two posts.

The only way to get out of this prematurely is to pay for their version of BSSC membership.

Seriously,if you think it's only "the people from Europe" bashing "America",ask Italians how they felt at the beginning of this season.Or the English whenever they lose an international.

It's inevitable that whenever there's a big news or event-such as World Cup,Euro,Gold Cup,Asian Cup,later stage of European season,Beckham going to MLS-,traffic to sites like this goes up.Some who sign up on such occasions do nothing but troll and disappear. Some stay on and become regular posters. Some come back on next big occasions. Some become professional and lovable trolls.Whether BigSoccer should leave the door open for unproven newbies or not is part of the site's policy. You can take it or leave it.

If you can't help responding or being bothered by newbies' threads/posts,it's your choice. Those who've been on the site despite its shortcomings have chosen to do so.Don't try to change the world wherever you go,please.

I don't care what they are saying.

I care about page after page after page of irrelevant threads (which is what will happen - it is just starting now).

They are the same as spam, they clutter things up.

I agree with the prohibation of newberts creating threads.

The Mexico forum is swarming with mexican-american noobs as of late and they create a thread for every stupid emotion they have, it's ridiculous and very annoying.

There was once a feature where newbies can only start threads after making 30 or so posts. I think this was to discourage spammers from creating threads that link to their site.

BS took a big step backward by binning this feature. :(

    If it ain't broke ...

Earlier in this thread, I wrote about a "30 posts in 30 days and before that, you need to wait 30 minutes before posting again rule." While, I think the 30 minutes for a site like this one might be a bit extreme, perhaps a 30 posts / 30 days / 5 minute rule might be beneficial.

We haven't had a Pele/Maradona thread in a while, so someone should start one soon.

And I really think we need to examine which was the greatest team never to win a World Cup. I'm not sure that one's ever been done.
