Hey everyone, first time messager :D

Well anyways, My name is Mark Harris and I am 18 years old and I just moved to Orange County, in Orlando, FL all the way from England. Well I would like to join a local soccer team but Ive looked everywhere but cant seem to find one! Is there anybody out there that can help me in locating one for my age group for me to join??

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thx

    Mark

PS: Is 18 too old to possibly be scouted by a pro-team coz im not sure about the scouting age limits over here? thx

If you're interested in playing at a high level, consider Orange County Blue Star. This club plays in the PDL, the highest amateur level in the US, and also fields a second team in the Coast Soccer League (a local amateur league). They recently became a feeder club for the Los Angeles Galaxy, and Jurgen Klinsmann currently plays for them. Open tryouts were last week, but there still may be a chance to get into the team.

    Relevant websites are:
http://www.bluestarsoccer.com - Orange County Blue Star
http://www.coastsoccer.org/csl_home.htm - Coast Soccer League (with e-mail contacts for teams)

If you're looking for a local rec team try:

    Central Florida Soccer

They have 10 leagues, and they can put you in contact with Premier, D1, D2A & D2B teams.

The regular season is over now for the summer (just the tournament going on). The new season will start in late August.

You can also try the PDL team Central Florida Kraze. They may be able to give you a tryout, but I don't know.

Oh, well that clears things up a lot. :)

To answer an earlier question, no, 18 isn't too old to be scouted here in America. However, the vast proportion of players who end up in MLS or the A-league (2nd division) have played soccer in college. The pro teams here don't have developmental teams like in England, instead, our massive university system does that job (although not as well as we would like) for them. So if you're looking to become a pro, you want to hook yourself up with a Division 1 University. Failing that, if you've got professional aspirations, you really ought to be able to get yourself a place on a PDL team. The list of PDL teams is here: http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/index_E.html, about halfway down. As people ahve already suggested, the best would probably be Ajax Orlando or the Central Florida Kraze.

If you're just looking for a team to play for, and don't have any aspirations, I'd imagine Chris's suggestion is the best. Try filling out the form again, I didn't have any problems with it. You might also try contacting them at the 'contact us' page here: http://www.centralfloridasoccer.com/contact.html

I would suggest going to the website, looking at the schedule, and going to a couple of the playoffs games this and next weekend. Maps to all the fields are there as well. It would give you an idea as to where you fall skill wise.
