Amazing strike today. Simply amazing. I forget who said it, but it truly is like watching a Jedi Knight play football.
I'm a Bostonian...and I'll confirm to a point. He's certainly not of Beckham magnitude, but he is a local hero...and twice the QB Peyton Manning is! I'm proud of the guy for what he's done on the field....and for dating both Bridget Moynahan and Giselle. The Red Sox will always be this city's first love, and even with Brady's 3 Superbowls the Pats still struggle in popularity against the Sox. Whoever's pitching well or hitting the homeruns is our hero for the moment. And I agree on the man crush on Berbs 100%. I laughed and I cried during the Bette Middler tribute. It's so disturbing and fantastic at the same time.
"When someone makes a thread about Berbatov leaving can we bump my post please? " Here you go then Danners!
Umm, i didn't mean this I meant the one about the interview, to use it as a counter argument. But yeah, great goal again His Wigan goal and Boro goal were in the Match of the Day Goal of the Month competition for April.
I want to make one, but I need to find a sound clip of the chant. Di-mi-tar Berbatov Di-mi-tar Berbatov
was sitting by the pool, watching the game, (and for those of you that do not have a sing box by now, well - I told you) and I was running around screaming like a madman after that goal...simply class.
I don't know how much value to place on the Premier League's Actim Index as a judge of a player's performance over the season. Maybe this is all just a bit of wonkish nonsense. However, it is worth noting that by the end of the season, Berbatov was third on the index (611 points), behind just Drogba (628) and Ronaldo (617). The next closest was Rooney at 580. So for all the talk of Drogba and Ronaldo being the clear best players all season (and rightfully so, as they were of such importance to title contending teams), Berbatov at the end was right there with them. And remember, the index "aims to identify successful players who contribute to winning performances," so Ronaldo and Drogba are boosted by their respective teams better overall performance (just as Berbatov is boosted over Benni McCarthy by Tottenham's better overall performance than Blackburn -- although I would argue it has more to do with his greater assists). And then I remembered that Berbatov missed some games in the middle of the season. So I looked at how many points each player had per appearance. Drogba -- 628 points -- 36 appearances -- 17.44 pts/app Ronaldo -- 617 points -- 34 appearances -- 18.14 pts/app Berbatov -- 611 points -- 33 appearances -- 18.515 pts/app Rooney -- 580 points -- 35 appearances -- 16.57 pts/app I don't mean to read too much into this. I mean, probably Jimmy Bullard has the best points per appearance average this season. (They only list the top 100, and Bullard and Tevez are not on it.) But, without looking beyond the top four players, it seems that Berbatov, according to the Premier League sanctioned method of evaluating player worth, is the best player per game in the league.
Nice analysis, Schwah. Like you said, you don't want to read too much into this kind of data, but it certainly reiterates the importance of Berba to the team and the profound effect he's had on the league this year.
and have we seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWIErqmz6Bk top 3 goals of the season, apologies if we have. It's from last saturday (not yesterday) on Soccer AM.
Haha I almost spit out my drink I've had a few, but watching that goal compilation video had me laughing too. Just listening to Berbatov talk, the guy seems hilarious. His third favorite he's like "Yeah, I watched this goal a few times from my house" I can just picture the guy laying back with the goal on loop. Or when Tainio asks him if he can put the ball in the net he's like "Ehh, yeah, okay I can do that". I'm so glad he's a Yid.
LOL Berbatov is fecking hilarious. He is such a cool character, he plays like that on the pitch and he seems like it off the pitch. Quality goals.
What a class act. Every team in the world wishes they had a player of his quality, character, and presence. I've been a fan since his 'Kusen days.
Uh oh...hope the shirt sponsors don't get involved and send Berba to Barcelona...Kofi Annan has to see that his brand name keeps solidarity and all that
