this is just me being bored, but would a Moreno-Carrieri deal be beneficial to both clubs?...

i mean, we need a good target striker to start, and Carrieri is just that. plus we'd have an open SI slot which brings that tally to 2 open slots. with Moreno gone we'd have the cap space for him, and with Grimandi gone, they'll have the cap space and SI slot open for Moreno.

i basicallly just really want Carrieri to come to the Metros, he's confident, solid, and a proven young starter, possibly a future Nat too.

Moreno would be a great guy for them too. He's a play-making striker, which they need in my eyes because all they have is target strikers.Zizi, Casey and Spencer are targets, but if you put a Moreno in they, behind the two forwards possibly, they'd be a great squad full of veterans.

in my eyes its a win-win situation, but i know im gonna get critisized by a few of yous anyway, but thats what i got on my mind, bring in Carrieri, but that probably wont ever happen.

    Moreno-Carrieri

As a Rapids fan, I don't want to see that deal made. These are 2 players headed in opposite directions.

Carrieri would be a great pickup, but I don't see Moreno going anywhere. Bradley has made a point of giving Jaime a leadership role on this team and there's no way he would reverse course and trade the guy a month into the season. While on paper it looks like a win-win for both teams, we still haven't seen the Moreno-Mathis-Guevara offensive engine in full gear, and unless and until we see that the 3 of them simply do not fit in together after giving them ample opportunity to gel, I don't foresee any major roster moves (unless we can get someone for a steal).

Moreno has played just 2 1/4 games so far, give him a little more time...

the risk in the hypothetical trade would be carrieri's ability to burst, it seems bradley has brought a lot of stability to the locker room, and like someone pointed out, he has tried to make moreno a leader on the team...on the other hand, carrieri's determination to run and make things happen for 90 minutes up top would be a perfect compliment to what you call "play making" forwards like mathis or moreno...it's fun every now and then to talk about what if's, especially so early in the week...but a thought that's crept in to my mind, we have a true play maker in guevara who also can push really forward...but we really don't have a carrieri type up front, both mathis and moreno as it seems now arent likely to run around a lot off the ball up front, preferring to come back if they're not seeing the ball...does anyone see this as a potential "issue" ?

I don't see Moreno running onto any balls in the near future anymore and don't think anyone would want him at this point in his career that is obviously in a downward spiral.

I can't claim to have any inside info from either the Rapids or Metro braintrust on this. But from my perspective, this is a trade I can't see either GM/coach wanting to make at this point. The prior reasons (Bradley's faith in Moreno, wanting him to be a leader, etc.) I think is spot on. A couple of other issues too. Moreno may or may not rebound from the past two years. In any case, he has a vision, close control and ability to distribute that Bradley admires and wants to see somewhere on his front line. Bob Bradley has gotten decent performance out of guys like Jamar Beasley, Eric Wynalda and even Wolyniec--as long as they have people on the front line and just behind it with vision and touch. I guess what I"m saying is that I think Bradley feels that he can find cheap spear carriers to finish chances--as long as he has 2-3 attacking players with the touch and vision to set them up.

I also (if I were Bradley) would be leery about acquiring Carrieri. This is a guy who (IMO) benefited tremendously from the setups provided by Valderama (who, for all his negatives--and there were alot, was probably the best pure assist man in MLS). And after reading his recent IV with Connelly where he rips many of his teammates and questions his coach, I just don't know if that's the kind of guy he wants on his team.

From Colorado's perspective, do they have an open SI spot? The Mexican defender they acquired probably makes good money. It wouldn't have been beyond MLS (stranger procedures have happened--like taking Stoichkov off the Chicago cap but keeping him on the roster until the deal with DCU was consumated) to give Colorado cap room to acquire their new defender while Grimandi was still technically on the roster, assuming his departure was a done deal. Assume that Spencer, Roberts and the Mexican Defender all make MLS max or near the max. That leaves them about $1million left in cap money. Henderson, Mastroeni, Chung, Fraser, and Garlick I'd assume each makes at least $100K (actually, I'd think Mastroeni, Henderson and Chung make substantially more). That means the remaining 10 guys on the roster have about $500K to split among themselves (if that). I don't think they have room to add a max salary player.

Sorry to hear how you feel, please be a man and say your feelings openly without any fear of those who may disagree with you. This is an open forum, and you shouldn't feel this way. I am disappointed in the moderators that they allow this to go on and on this boards. There seems to be a group here that thinks they own the damn thing and criticize everyone who don't share their views or opinions.

Moreno needs service worse then Dan R., once Gueverra gets acclimated and settled in, we should see some nice attacking out of the midfield (assuming at least one Argie works his way into the starting rotation and perhaps the addition of someone like Bartholmeu) come June or July. Long season, we're 3 games in.
