It's on the internet, so it must be true... There are some other schools I wish he would have looked at, but I think he'll be happy there.
Congratulations! That's so exciting! I assume that's close enough so you'll be able to attend home games at least somewhat regularly?
Thought I'd dig this thread up from Sam from last year rather than start a new one in the same vein. My youngest wrapped up his last club tournament today and has next year's destination figured out. And, yeah, it all flies by much faster than I'd have ever believed.
It's got to be hard. I have one more season between 2 girls and it's over. Trying to set my frame of mind now so that the impact is not so difficult - already reached out for a coaching gig to somehow stay in the sport.
Thanks! There was a definite sense for the weeks between him committing and the school acknowledging it publicly that this wasn't really real until they said it. Re Volk's comment above, I'm with you. If I thought I was a better coach, I'd give that a shot again.
OK, I need to continue... Jon joined a UPSL team for the spring. He couldn't do anything until Spring season ended for college. Two practices in and first game tonight. Starting XI posted on insta...
That's cool -- I remember years ago wondering who the players were on all of these summer-only teams. Any sense for how many of his teammates are playing somewhere over the summer or if it's something his coaches push as a must or something they "highly recommend?"
According to Jon, 2-3 college players are doing summer teams. He ended up playing the full 90' +6. Opponents scored AT +6 to force a 2-2 draw.
