Yea he def needs to tone it down some but it’s also what you want and need from an attacking player. Really wish Poch had stayed another year. He was a nice fit for his style. Not sure Noni is ideal for Enzo.
Not sure about Poch, never was really, we could have won the League cup - we should have won on that day and we blew it. Maduke and Mudryck do not seem like Enzo players, not sure which wingers are going to work under his system. Oscar Bobb would work in the Pep-lite system
Fabrizio Romano: ⚪️ EXCLUSIVE: Conor Gallagher has verbally agreed terms and said YES to join Atlético Madrid! ‘Here we go’ to follow today after formal steps, five year deal La Liga’s record fee this summer, €40m to Chelsea — brokered by Ali Barat from Epic Sports and Paul Nicholls.
Happy for him, Sad for us. I hope he does really well there. And i am so glad he is not playing for a rival premiership club.
Maybe we even sell Ben Chillwell? With Cucurella coming back into the squad and this inverted full back stuff, I am not sure Ben fits with the plans of Enzo. Poch had Ben on the left wing. . .Not sure what is the best system of Ben - he's never really been fit long enough for us to know maybe?>
Again, look at what's happening. Players are being sold to CL quality teams whilst we watch it on TV. This club is being run into the ground on the hopes that players like Lavia and Enzo will lead us to success 5 years from now. The best description I've seen about the Gallagher situation is thus: "[Gallagher] is the most functional player out of the most uncanny collection of broken toys, misfits, and FOMO guesses assembled in football's history."
Cole Palmer is "functional" - maybe more functional than Gallagher? Although, I understand your doom and gloom approach, i am actually optimistic about our season. We do have some brilliant players. Players of individual brilliance. Can it all be shaped into a team? i think we can be a strong team.
I think that a good coach comes in and looks at the players and works out a suitable system to get a winning team. Then over time they can adjust the system to improve the team. A crap coach comes in thinking only their system is correct and looses the games, the support and ultimately the team. I wonder which one we have
With Chillys injury history and wages we won’t be able to move him this window but maybe in Jan if he’s heathy.
[Fabrizio Romano] XCL: Chelsea talent Alfie Gilchrist has chosen Sheffield United as loan option. Medical and signature to be completed on Tuesday — here we go.
[Fabrizio Romano] David Datro Fofana, expected to leave Chelsea this summer on loan with possible obligation-to-buy clause. Understand Leicester City are currently leading the race with Stuttgart and Villarreal also interested.
[Matt Law] Chelsea are in pole position to sign striker Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid after Conor Gallagher agreed to move to the Spanish club. And Telegraph Sport can reveal Chelsea have not ruled out adding both Omorodion and Napoli star Victor Osimhen to Enzo Maresca’s squad this summer if
Samu is bang average, & moves like a tractor. Watched him v Egypt at the Olympics recently and he is Lukaku-lite, not a player who has any business playing for a possession team. I can’t see what the sporting directors are seeing in some of this talent. The reported fee of €50m is ridiculous for a backup, and I would strongly argue Marc Guiu is a much better player. Samu has never played for Atletico Madrid - he has played 34 games for Deportivo Alavés and has scored 8 goals. A very mediocre player imho Yep i am going to compile a video tomorrow of myself knocking a football around for 2 hours. Maybe they'll sign me up for a €100m.
Carlo Ancelotti is the best. He builds a system around his exceptional players. We know only too well how rigid and resistant to change some of these coaches can be. it is a big worry. . . it never ends well.
I disagree that we have brilliant players. The Lampard-era teams were brilliant. Hazard was brilliant. We have no one even near that. Playing out of the back is the coach's fault, not players. Not letting players express but pigeonholing them into a specific style is a mistake.
Cole Palmer, Reece James, Nkunku. . . .and there are plenty of others, that we have not seen the best of yet. Lets see what they can do this year. Now the players are more settled. AND if they can remain injury free. I am optimistic tbh.
To be fair, it would cost more if it was an EPL team. Having said that, why the fvck are we paying this much for another unproven ST. This is madness.
I feel like our "decision makers" or whoever have very quickly developed this reputation where other clubs are just dying for the phone to ring from us. "Oh you like this player we have who is a mediocre bench warmer? I guess we could be convinced to sell him to you, but first you need to give us one of your best players for less money" Atletico sporting directors must have felt like kids on Christmas when the caller ID said Winstanley
Well I do think those 3 are top class, but "The Plan and The System" seem to want to put Reese where his best assets are very under utilized and if he stays injury free, which I deeply hope, I'd say there is a 95% chance he will be pushed out next summer for pure profit. Also need to see where Enzo plays Cole in The System might be deep dm. Hopefully Nkunku stays healthy and plays behind NJ, not where he played in 1st half last match. Also I still really like NJ and think he will make a big jump up if he starts. After that I wonder if the players we have pushed out last couple of years would not beat the rest of our team 9 out of 10 times. I am as pessimistic as I remember being in heck decades
