Chelsea made a formal offer for 19-year-old Argentinian centre back Aaron Anselmino. The offer is close to £13.3 million. They have offered the player a four-year contract. Strasbourg here he comes?

Atletico Madrid’s striker Alvaro Morata [31] has a €15m release clause.

    Just saying. . . .

Morata took too much hate cause everyone wanted Lukaku to come back at the time.

Eh, that was some of it maybe, but I feel like mainly, it was because his finishing made Nick Jackson look like Gerd Muller. Maybe its just me...

Moratta started well for us and then he went into decline and then he kept declining. He is a tall striker and he has some ability and experience. He would be cheaper than the 50 million quid we originally paid for him. BUT he has openly stated that he hated his time at Chelsea.

In terms of our squad i think we need to add an older striker to back up the Jackson. That said, blue.co[ke] do like them young.

If memory serves he hurt his back and had his house broken into and struggled to regain his form post injury. He also seemed to miss Spain.

Olise to Bayern, apparently. We withdrew because deal was becoming too expensive:eek::confused:thought that was our raison d'etre. Hopefully learning a bit. Very talented but on average available for less than half a season. So a good decision. Also the Doo'F's might have remembered they have signed 44 players to play in that spot. Shame we wont see what CP could do if they were able to keep their talent together another year or two.

Chelsea have pulled out of the process to sign winger Michael Olise . . . Now we are being linked with Nico Williams

and so on, for the rest of the summer.

yep, summer is always a bit frustrating and tiresome, more so now because I have no feel for what the Doo'fF's might do nor any limits on how low they may sink on decisions in or out.

The decision making process of the Doo'fFs is like nothng we have previously known. Blue.co[ke] like young players, preferably from Sarf America and most likely costing a fortune.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both showing interest in Barcelona striker Marc Guiu [18] who has a 6m euro (£5.08m) release clause.

Barcelona youth coach Iván Carrasco describes Guiu as a "classic '9', a specialist in the area who exploits his physical power". He has a good high ball game, pace, strength and work-rate. Spanish football expert Guillem Balagué described Guiu as a striker who is known to be "more efficient in the box"

    Seems versatile !

Nearly all the goals and assists are in youth football as it stands, so the "reported" £19M fee is a hefty one on that basis.

    He's tall though 191cm

    Is this money laundering?

Villa overpaid for Maatsen so we would overpay for a youngster and it makes the books like sweet.

    is that what this is?

We would have had much better puns had we signed Duran.

Chelsea have held talks with Jonathan David's [24] representatives. The former Gent star, who has 84 goals in 183 Lille games, has one year left on his deal with the Ligue 1 club. One year left - so he must be cheap right?

David plays mainly as a second striker or attacking mid. We are not really short of players in this area. Not sure about this deal at all. I don't dislike the player, but i wonder why we are interested in him. He is okay. A squad player. An under study for Nkunku?

So we've effectively sold Maatsen for £18m ?
    Nope, not quite.
BUT we also didnt really sell him for £38m either.
Whilst we dont know for certain, I would imagine the fee would have likely been around £28m. Villa then added on an additional £10m on top, which we can bank for this season as pure profit. We did the same for Kellyman - which also gives Villa a nice £10m extra to bank in pure profit.

No longer a football club with aspirations to win trophies. This is corporate money laundering. I bet they don't hire accountants still in school, but they'll buy a player that never started a senior game.

    This is getting ridiculous

Counterpoint: I like that the exploitation of financial loopholes is getting to be so obvious and transparent, and that we are leading the way with it. The rules are stupid.

I might actually 20% believe this too

I think he's just using us to get a new deal with Barca.

Hope I'm wrong but a top La Masia product quitting on them just feels to good to be true. But this would be a real great signing if we are really able to pull it off. Very nice price. Barcelona fans see him as an important part of their future. They would be gutted if he left.

I don't know that Culers would be "gutted."

He's a promising player, and its still as-yet undetermined as to what his ceiling as a player might be.

I think most Culers find it odd that he would be interested in going to a new club, in a new country, in a new league, with all of the players ahead of him, in a club that [from the outside] looks as dysfunctional as Barcelona.

By contrast, sure: Barca are dysfunctional right now. And to start this season, Guiu would be 3rd choice at the #9, after the dessicated remains of Lewandowski, and some guy named Vitor Roque. But, Barca is his boyhood club, and Lewandowski won't play forever. And Roque probably isn't a sole #9, so much as a 2nd striker, if he even has the level to play in Barcelona.

In sum, it would be a good gamble on a prospect for Chelski. And it would be good in the immediate for Guiu's pocketbook to sign one of those 11 year contracts you guys hand out. But Culers think that it may not be best for his career prospects, to go NOW, to your club, given the issues in evidence.

We'll see. Perhaps you're correct, in that he is using Chelsea to get a new deal.

Maybe “gutted” would be the wrong term, maybe concerned is more accurate? And you are concerned as you did reply and you have some feelings about the idea of him leaving.

I think we both know that we are in the heart of the ‘silly season’ and he is most likely using outside interest – Bayern Munich and Chelsea are of interest to him apparently – to get a better deal at Barcelona.

That said, if he did leave at that price, there would be some serious questions for the people running things at Camp Spotify.

I think this is fair. [Not to shyte on Chelsea, but] Were he to choose to go to another club, with fewer direct competitors for places, and better veteran leadership among the players, and a known entity as manager, and a less shambolic club, we'd be excited for him.

But going from his boyhood club, with [probably] fewer competitors for places, better veteran leadership, and an experienced manager to Chelsea makes little sense for him. At least, right now.

[To be fair to Chelski, Barca are every bit as shambolic as Chelski are right now.]

    I think this is likely.

    Questions?

There already are "questions" as to whether or not Laporta is capable of presiding over a club, and whether or not Deco and Bojan can read their own names.

Yep, the questions would be why would spotify team Barça give Guiu exposure in the first team without having first tied him down to a longer deal with a higher release clause. That is just feeble minded business from the Team spotify "leadership".

Some folks on the twitter are saying it is already a done deal.

btw - You wouldnt want a left back for 60 million would you?
