......................and his usual antics generally since he came to the Premiership. However I think today many managers and players should think about how he went over to the fans today. He made sure they knew they were appreciated. He made sure every player went over to the fans and applauded them. That attituide (for someone who goes to games) makes the fan feel included and appreciated and feels that the club they support does care. I have said it many times that Arsenal don't have this at present, after games the players run off the pitch with out a second thought to the fans who have spent their wage travelling the lengh of the country. It was obvious from the lacklustre showing that the fans gave whilst the players did a lap of homour after the game. At Highbury and in former years no one would leave the ground until the players had left the pitch. Today about a third of the stadium was empty as they went round. Arsenal and a lot of other clubs could do with looking at how Mourinho and his players treat their fans.
Mourinho can go overboard when speaking to the media. But his show of love and appreciation to not only his club but the supporters are what makes him the favorite he is to the Chelsea fan base.
as long as your post is consistent with what you had to say about the Jose and the club in the Utd forum...
Two completly different things. I don't like Chelsea, I didn't want them to win the Premiership. However I did like what Mourinho did today. I don't believe they have anything to do with each other. I am not one to hide what i want to say, I have no problem with saying that I didn't want Chelsea to win the league and I know that Clan, Nice and GPK would have no problem with me saying it. I also have no problem with putting a post like I did up as I think the rapport between clubs and fans is being lost. Clan and others like him will understand far more about what I mean.
no need to get defensive Rick, I am well aware of who you are and your rep when it comes to posting. You have my respect. I just tread a little cautiously when it comes one post praising the club on our board and another post saying not exactly the same on another forum which is I why I generally post on this forum only
Oh I didn't mean to come accross as defensive, I am just a little pissed off. If we had had an actual striker on the pitch today instead of that waste of space called Baptista we would have beaten you. Secondly I am pissed off at the attitude shown by many of our players who don't seem to give two bollocks about the fans. Wenger and his staff don't seem to care that much either. Some of the players did take that bit longer to walk round, threw their shirts etc etc. But many just walked around clapping every now and then and just talking to each other. It is a lack of respect to the fans.
Unfortunately, I believe we are going to see more and more of this type of attitude in football as the "working class man" is edged out for the Corporate Account Holders. It makes me think of the comments of Brian Barwick and SGE after the WC- "I know the fans are disapointed, but we gave a good effort, and they will have to understand..." What those morons failed to understand was that fans saved up for a long time (some years) to afford to take time offf work, travel to Germany, have a hotel, stay at a camp site, drink beer, and enjoy the atmosphere, etc and were treated to that display of shyte and are "supposed to understand" football has unfortunately become a business with an endless flow of customers who have little to no brand loyalty
I do wonder if thats endemic to some of the bigger clubs only though. The bigger the club, the more corporate it has become, the less the fans are thought of as people. An attitude, that filters down from the top.
Amazing that not one Prem. club has stepped foward to support the "stand up" movement to bring terraces back to the ground. They really dont want the old fan anymore. They want the family man who brings the two kids- I suppose it makes sense because you get more money, but the soul of the game has certinaly taken a hit in recent times
Well said. Mourinho is a class act whose pronouncements usually come out too strident, maybe as someone else has pointed out, because English is not his first language.
Usually he is not - but today he definately showed a side of him I haven't seen before. While a lot of what he says could be due to the language difference, some of it is just poor media handling. I know you guys think he is a genius for deflecting all of the attention off his players and on himself, but is that really neccessary? He needs to do what every other manager does at the end of the game and learn to make the odd excuse, or make some introspective comments rather than just claim to have been the better team after every single game.
So, what you're saying is that the present arsenal players dont speak the language of their fans? To be fair to the arsenal players it must be weird for them too when their own fans start singing "liverpool, liverpool"
You havent seen it before, true, but we the Chelsea fans have Jose s'alright and he has a great sense of humour.
Re: U can't stand Mourinho................ And the majority of people on this Specific Forum doesn't like Arsenal. So the feeling is mutual
Well to be fair the arsenal players are young and somewhat clueless on how to behave properly - unfortunately they follow the lead of Wenger, who is a great tactician but a graceless human being. In fact he is a conceited twat
It's strange to see you on this board Rick, but this is my first visit to the Chelsea boards and it's nice to recognise a friendly face. I agree with your post to a certain extent. What the players have been doing in a lot of games at Emirates is huddling up and hugging each other before the game starts to do some team bonding. I remember at the Arsenal/Tottenham carling cup game, they hugged the little mascot as well and I think that was a very nice thing to do. He will remember that day for the rest of his life. I think a person leaving early from the Emirates is mainly to do with the transport problems around the ground. I also feel that the atmosphere at the Emirates is a bit of a mixed bag, there are many families there who do not do much cheering and sit down for most of the games. I stood up for the whole game, and I was singing throughout but I was in the minority. I cannot stand Mourinho, he has such a big head I feel it might explode sometimes and arrogant is a small word to describe him but I do agree that it was a very nice and timely gesture to applaud the fans and the players after the game. Its neutrals who matter and I think we can all work out which is the team that most neutrals prefer out of Arsenal or Chelsea.
I am just glad I managed not to put my foot into it until that far I just made the post because obviously Man Utd supporters hate Arsenal, vice versa and same with Chelsea/Arsenal and Spuds/Chelsea, so how exactly can you see which is better? Every team supporters will have a different view. When Arsenal play their best they can beat anyone IMO and the same with Chelsea.
I think he meant other teams fans, not neutral nellies per se. Neutral nellies have no place in the game in my opinion!!
