It seems they are beginning to get noticed in America now. Wont be long before global domination is complete. It might kickstart a much needed rock revoloution and kick all that lame Rap, R&B and whiney piss poor alternative nonsense into touch. Once again it's left to the Brits to save Rock . YEAH BABY

Joy Division split up years ago, as well...doesn't mean that I'll be buying an Interpol record anytime soon.

But you can go and see The Darkness live unlike Gnr and JD. And its about time there was some decent new music

I doubt he does, since I was accused by him of not having "the capacity to understand them"...

I hate the Darkness. What a ripoff of one of the greatest bands ever- Queen. The lead singer is such a Freddie Mercury wannabe it's absurd. Not only do they completely ripoff Queen but they are doing a *#*#*#*#*#*# job at it. They should have just called themselves Queen 2 -the crappy version.

Any band that can polarise opinion the way The Darkness do you just know has to be good. What is it that you lot dont like about them ? Can you elaborate more than just the "They suck" mode of thought. I think you have been weened on too much crap over the years, you have forgotton what good rock is all about.

    The Darkness will succeed

Actually, it's got nothing to do with them..it's with dimwitted fans who refuse to see a joke for what it is.

The Darkness aren't a terrible band...they're just not a serious one. "World Domination"?? Ha, please!! They're a throwback...a good one, yes...but still a throwback.

You are one who subscribes to the "they are taking the piss" train of thought ? There is a little piss takin going on - out of themselves though, not the music or the listener. They know that if they were to come over all serious then they would get laughed out of the joint, so they do it a bit tongue in cheek. But they are the real deal.

I totally see their joke and their attraction...but I also would never take a band like that and treat them as saviours of any particular style of music, bar "novelty".

They can save music because it may influence bands to pick up their guitars and write proper kick ass tunes again which in turn MTV and radio will start to pick up on and before you know it decent music is back in the charts. The only rock you get these days is spotty kids playing really bad heavy metal or indie nerds trying their hardest not to rock. A return to the golden age is needed and The Darkness are bringing it on

So then why don't start a thread about the hopeful return of rock music rather than ridiculously trumpeting one certain band over and over??

Cos there is no other band out there at the moment doing it like them. They are like a big *#*#*#*#*#*# off wake up call.

I think maybe it's true what they say, Americans dont do irony. The Darkness are just too ironic for most Americans to get.

The Clash pretty much made it hard for any band to rock out and be taken seriously ever again.

I'm honesly more interested in hearing bands "rock out", but still utilizing what's been created since AC/DC were young. You don't have to wear spandex and try to be Van Halen in order to "rock". You just have to have energy. Sounds to me like you miss Whitesnake too much. :)

Haha Whitesnake very funny. The Darkness are more like a post modern Queen with riffs the size of AC/DC. The Poodle perm *#*#*#*# was an American thing. Thats why you cant get you hhead round them, the fact they look like Bon Jovi but sound much cooler
