look, its just the point that there are people who are seemingly pushed to do something JUST because someone ELSE is suggesting they do the opposite. stubbornness to the point of ignoring reason, at times.
A. This shows you don't understand how the US budget actually works, since spending on these "new bombs" isn't actually all that significant. B. Its all well and good to sit back and criticize the US military spending that has kept you safe for 50 years. It amazes me how quickly Europeans forget that most of them didn't need to have much of an army at all, because the US was always there. We paid for half the defense of Western Europe, and now you're criticizing our military spending? Wow.
Yes, but I didn't suggest that I WOULD vote for Bush because of this. Merely that an opinion offered up by someone who's interest in this is purely selfish, and not even related to my country, isn't going to sway me one bit.
in your case maybe it doesnt apply as much but ive heard from people of wanting to vote for bush just because of the bush bashing, or people pleading for them to vote for kerry... where is the logic in that?
Yes, Allende became president with 36% of the vote, and proceeded to lead Chile to communism. That's democracy in action for you.
Lol - you'll be waiting a while Frank eg - According to Blair the "war" involves meeting up with known terrorists who have even succeeded in blowing things up within the UK (lockerbie) - not that we'll ever "negotiate with these terrorists" ...those guys have obviously come over to our side now.... Incredible how the newspapers who were so "cruelly deceived" by the govt over Iraq have now deceived themselves again
or another way of looking at it, NYC and the west coast will look on in despair as Bush gets another 4 years
And again you feel you need to comment on me rather than actually taking part in the discussion. Am I more important to you than the US elections?
Of course I know that McGovern was very left wing. That's why I liked that they showed an interview with him - over here in Europe we've arrived at a stage that we think the vast majority of Americans are religious right wing fanatics, McGovern is a breath of fresh air.
And you paid for 'half the defense of Western Europe' out of purely altruistic motives, of course. Oh if I had a Euro for every American on these boards giving me 'if it weren't for us you'd all be speaking german/be communists' argument. I'm not criticising your military spending, I'm wondering why Americans don't criticise their government's military spending. Call my reasoning simplistic but here you are, with a fully-fledged army battling in a far away country, many lives are lost every day and millions are spent on it every day, yet everyone who dares to be a bit critical about it is immediately dismissed. Your attitudes seem very cynical to me. This isn't some abstract computer game you know.
Well exactly, it is. You obviously don't understand that for many people in Europe, communism is just another political belief. Communist parties have participated happily in several European democracies (France, Italy) after WWII. I can't help that you're so paranoid about communism. To me your post sums up exactly what annoys so many people about America at the moment, btw. Your current government doesn't want to give the world democracy, they want to bully the world into accepting your version of democracy. And that'll only help you create more enemies I'm afraid.
dont say the rest of the world. arabs want bush to win. please vote for bush, ever since that guy took sadam down weve been living a dream. people might say he wants to take control of the oil here or whatever, but we dont care cause the result matter. and i must admit i never thought that we would get such an amzin result. Thank you bush for makeing our lives easier love the arabs.
Yes the Arabs just loooooovvvvvvveeeeeee Bush. That's why so many of them join rebellious factions in Iraq. Don't be so silly and naive Chocolate.
sorry johan what a stupid mistake from me, i meant this: dont say the rest of the world. kuwaities want bush to win. please vote for bush, ever since that guy took sadam down weve been living a dream. people might say he wants to take control of the oil here or whatever, but we dont care cause the result matter. and i must admit i never thought that we would get such an amzin result. Thank you bush for makeing our lives easier love the kuwaities.
I think your mistaking socialism and communism. Communism and democracy are two mutually exclusive concepts. You may have a "communist party" win power in a country like France, but their doctrine is probably socialist.
Your Welcome. And, oh, you might want to change your team affiliation if I get back in, because Iran misunderestimated what a lame-duck Preisdency can do to them, and they're next on my list, BABY!!! Luv to Arabs, George W. Bush.
They are not. Power AS the demos, the people, power held by and for the people is essentially the SAME thing as a withering away of the state such that power rests solely with the people. I think a more accurate submission might be that totalitarian centralised states that called themselves 'communist,' and the perfect individual freedom to do whatever that is unfettered so-called 'capitalism' are mutually exclusive, which they are. One is also strictly an economic system...ostensibly; I'd submit that the US republic, my republic, has institutionalised capitalism MORE than it has democracy. They are also both relatively evil, and of course, they are both "isms," and thus ultimately useless in helping us even effectively describe our world, let alone manage it or engage it in any meaningful way.
No they're not, the history of communism in Western Europe proves that. Plus I am not aware of any anti-democracy statements in the original communist doctrine.
