Only until the Fall of 1978 when I moved East. However in a second life as an attorney I represented unionized railroad workers until I retired 7 years ago this month.
So your first full year of retirement was the last year DC United went to the playoffs? I'm sensing a disturbing pattern.
Forty-seven years ago today, the Bullets lost game 3 at the Capital Centre to make the series 1-2. They will go on to beat the Seattle Super Sonics in their house in game 7 on June 7th. Amazingly the Super Sonics went ahead 3 times in this series
This only made up for the Bullets being swept by the Golden State Warriors in 75, a team the Bullets had no business losing to. This whole Wizards experiment hasn't worked, the Bullets should take their name back. Even Kansas didn't want the name. Is Seattle getting a team back?
What is so amazing is that Leonsis has had 3 consecutive first rate hockey guys in personnel -- McPhee, McClellan and Patrick and the Wizards -- not so much. They are the DCU of the NBA.
His original desire was to buy the Wizards not the Caps but the Caps were what Pollin was willing to sell at the time. When he finally got a chance to buy the Wizards you would have thought he would run with it. It sounds funny now that Leonsis made his fortune with AOL.
But at least the Mystics won a championship when Carter was a humanitarian and Nobel Prize winner, not President.
