I am coming down from the SF Bay area on 5/29 to see the gaLAxy/Dallas match-up.

Was wondering if there is anything I should know beforehand or tips anyone could give me.

Buying tickets walk-up shouldn't be a problem should it?
What about scalpers? Are there any? If so, where?
And parking? Is there anywhere close by I can park without paying, or should I just avoid the hassle and park in the lot?
Any stadium food I HAVE to have?
Do fans get together at a nearby bar beforehand at all?

Keep in mind I have NEVER Been to Carson, so keep locations/directions very specific please!

Looking forward to my first trip to HDC!!!

Thanks for any and all help.

    Oh and... GO QUAKES! :D

    HDC section 138
Although we regularly get 20K+, walk up tickets sholdnt be a problem for that game. If it was the Freddy + tenotherguys show that could be another story. Last time Freddy United was here we even sold out the grassy knoll GA area.

Scalpers are generally available for big games near the main entrance. You may not see any on your day due to availablity of walk up tix. If it were me, I'd call 877-3galaxy and get your tix in advance then will call 'em just to make sure. If this is your only shot to see the HDC you definately dont want to miss out.

The best free parking is on Victoria Street. But it fills up fast so you'd need to arrive plenty early.

Unfortunately the stadium food generally sux IMO. I had a churro once that tasted like it was from last season, and the nacho cheese is actually a yellow-orange polymer of some kind; sure as hell aint no cheese in there.

The LA Riot Squad meets in lot 13 before games. Just look for bloodshot eyes and green hats. Go party with them; and be sure to wear your SJ Earthquakes jersey, it'll go over huge! :)

Seriously though, you are in for a treat going to the HDC. It is the venue that shows future SSS in the US how it's done. HDC fully deserves all the hype you've heard.

My best suggestion would be to leave the dark side and join the all that is good and right in the world. Don the green and gold and ditch the blue. Like suggested above, come by lot 13 where the Riot Squad sucks em down, but don't let anyone know who you are if you still support the Quakes.
I would buy a ticket ahead of time just to save the hassle. You never know what might happen. If you want to have a good time, get a ticket near 138 and enjoy the Riot Squad's tunes.

From what I understand, parking on Victoria on the block with the HDC/Cal State Dominguez is a big negatory. The deputies cruise, ticket, and tow for blocks around. You *can* find free parking, but you have to be willing to walk a ways.

Since we have the most overpriced parking in soccer, it's probably worth the trouble. Try going south on Avalon past University, and heading either towards Victoria State Park or in one of the little subdivisions. Even some of those might have Event Day parking Securitate, but eventually you'll find something.

Or you could try public transportation *laugh track*

I parked on Victoria Street a bunch of times last year as well as opening day this year and had no problem. I park in lot 13 now though.
Hadn't heard there was a change in the policy toward HDC parking out there but I could be wrong.
I fully agree you should try to sit in/near section 138. The good time the LARS has is infectious and their chants are hilarious. Good stuff all around. Leave the blue shirt at home though. They're a friendly bunch but generally not big on smurfs :) It's all in good fun though.
Oh, and bring your liver. The beer does tend to flow...

    Hahahahahahhahahahahahaha.

That's a good one. You Smurf fans bust me up. REally.

Big negatory on the food thang. I don't know about the stadium club (the restaurant that overlooks the West Side goal.

If you're coming from north of LAX, try eating at Lares Restaurant on Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica. Great Mexican food. I would recommend eating elsewhere, and not at The Cathedral. LA's got great restaurants, highly under-rated.

Enjoy the game, and imagine how NUTS the Bay Area would go for an SSS along the lines of The Cathedral.

    Stop Quakes!! ;)

    Think they'd draw 10000/per?

No, seriously... *Do* you think they'd draw 10000/per if they got a shiny new Cathedral of their own up in NoCal? I don't.

Why not? You expect a drop in attendance if they build a new stadium in SJ?

By the time it would get built, that would be an increase in attendance. So, yes. If two championships in three years (and, yes, it hurt to type that) can't get NoCal asses in seats, I'm not sure what a shiny new stadium would do.

Thanks for your expert and nuanced analysis of why they would not be able to draw at a new stadium an attendance figure they have achieved 7 out of 8 years at Spartan Stadium.

Forget the food in the stadium. Save your appetite for the "bacon-wrapped hot dogs" sold by roving vendors outside of the stadium after the game. Catch them if you can.

Well, color me baffled, then. If it works, it works.

Bacon-wrapped hot dogs, while highly recommended, are strictly contraindicated if you have any sort of heart complication. Or if your immediate family has any sort of heart complication. Or if you've ever played "Hearts" on the computer. Or watched a "Hart to Hart" rerun. Those aren't exactly short of the USDA recommended daily allowance for fat, if you catch my drift. Yummy as heck, though. Oh, and you'll probably look like the "Before" picture in one of those Mylanta commercials, but it's all in a good cause.

According to the Atkins diet, though, you can everything in a bacon-wrapped hot dog except the freaking bun. Blows my tiny little mind.

Yes, I do. It would have to be aesthetically more attractive than HDC, but Bay Area peeps would dig it. Spartan is ghe-TOE aesthetically. It's the stadium for a commuter state university.

Because his hate is delicious, duh.

Speaking of Oompa-Loompas - I swear one of the Oompas in the movie is Carlos Hermosillo's dad. The little guy is a DEAD FREAKING RINGER for Squarehead, I swear. Next time you watch the movie, see if I'm wrong.

Really? When did Dominguez Hills add a football team?

OUR stadium is on the property of a commuter school, but we are the primary tenants. Plus it's a modern facility, not some decrepit dinasour from the 20s.
