lee chungyong had his chances to end his national team career on a high and blew it. lee geunho deserves an asian cup ending for all that hes done for the team
except for a brief period before the 2010 world cup lee geunho have always been reliable for the national team regardless of his club form. id take lee geunho over son heungmin lee seungwoo nam taehee kim seungdae hwang inbeom hwang euijo suk hyunjun moon seonmin lee chungyong seo jungwon choi yongsu ha sukju seol kihyun ahn junghwan and just about everybody else. basically unless we have 5 in prime park jisungs on the squad im making room lee geunho to the asian cup. he deserves it for all that hes contributed to the national team. this will be his last big tournament before regressing
On a side note: Regardless of his form, he still should have gone to the World Cup considering they took Ahn Jung Hwan over him to South Africa. Now I'm an Ahn fan, but in 2010, Ahn was 34 years old, past his prime, overweight and playing in the CSL when no KNT player was playing there at the time (this was before CSL was the money league and had the top tier Euro/Brazilian talents and coaching). Ahn didn't even play in the WC.
Lee Keun Ho's KNT days may be over, but don't hate on the dude. He showed up quite often for us. An underrated KNT hero in my eyes. Just not highly rated by many because he's an AFC journeyman.
Didnt watch the game but seems like he's had a rather frustrating one. Anyway team won 1-0 (still questioning the necessity of the manager change).
Unsere Nummer 2⃣0⃣ Hee-chan Hwang steht aufgrund muskulärer Probleme nicht im Kader. #nurderHSV #SVWWHSV— Hamburger SV (@HSV) October 29, 2018
https://www.hsv.de/news/meldungen/s...moechte-die-freude-am-fussball-wieder-zeigen/ Interview with Hwang where he speaks about being exhausted after WC and AGs, now ready to get back in action, his aims with the club (promotion), his life in Hamburg, football's risen standing in S.Korea, and playing abroad. He says that he tries to encourage other NT colleagues to go to Europe as he thinks it is the best way to develop (you know, he's best friends with HIB and KMJ, just saying )
Played as a CF and almost scored, HSV conceded then in the 90th to a 2-2 draw. Defending was horrendous. What a mess, that team... It was a great chance to win against one of the best teams, but they lost concentration in the last regular minute... edit: Hwang was totally misused in HSV's system as a CF. If they'd play two top with Arp or Lasogga it would work, but with Hunt in the team you just cant play a 4-4-2.
Rough translation: Goalscorer Hee-Chan Hwang after the win: "I'm very happy. Before the game I put pressure on myself because I didn't score for a long time. Nice that finally worked out again with a goal."
He is still raw. He needs to be better on the ball. He actually reminds me of SHM when he is on the ball. You feel nervous and not totally confident when he is on the ball as in contrast to top latin American attacking players.
