Guess that Bush means the "Zero Tollerance" thing he just said on CNN. THat means shoot to kill anyone who is not in his base of support.
Who were you referring to when you made these statements: There is no good excuse for living in a place that requires constant groundwater pumping. they're stupid
I'm well aware of that, which is maybe even worse. How the f*** is someone going to protect themselves with just 10 bullets??!!
CNN is reporting that 1000s of guardsmen are moving through the streets. A three star general is doing a Patton and giving direct orders in the street and specifically telling troops to point their weapons down rather than up as they do in Iraq.
That's better than Beruit in 82 when the guys at the gate weren't allowed to have the weapons loaded.
Nor I. It takes the average person around two weeks to die of hunger. Surely they can hold out a bit longer without having to resort to eating people. On the other hand, without clean drinking water, the average person will die of thirst in two or three days. Unfortunately, that probably means we'll see a lot more dead today or tomorrow.
I'm thinking most people are worried about saving their ass rather than torching their house. You'd have to be able to either get to it to torch it, or if there, have a good escape route to get away from it. They've stated for days that gas leaks and the like were going to start causing problems and bam, here it is.
I would have had flood insurance if I lived in NOLA, but if I didn't, I would set my house on fire in a heartbeat. Any rational person would probably do the same.
Actually, if you don't have flood insurance, you want your house to have been blown over. If I recall correctly, in Flordia, if your house blew over the insurance covered it as an act of God. If your house was flooded and collapsed, it was considered a flood, and without the flood rider, insurance doesn't pay for it. There were a lot of lawsuits when the insurance company claimed the house was standing after the wind, but collapsed after the flood.
Thank god, there are final national guard troops and supplies in town. National Guard troops have just made it to the Convention Center. While I'm pissed beyond belief it has taken this long, I'm so relieved it is finally happening now.
