    Anyway, FT score was:

    England 3
    Hungary 1(Dardai)

I'm satisfied overall, in our sides first two games with a new coach we beat New zealand 2-0 and lost to England but put up a fight. We're more or less where i expected us to be, now we've got 3 months to work to improve this and give us SOME chance in the Euro qualifiers.

The England game is the first time I can recall seeing a full 90 minutes of the Hungarian national team. So, here is a question:

They look like very good technical players. I made the comment to my wife, "It's like watching a Brazilian national team, when they are not at their peak."

I remember seeing several one touch combinations in the game that made me think, these guys are very, very good. Is this how they usually play?

I thought Hungary were unlucky to not score a second.

PS. I think Kiraly would have taken JT's head off in a competitive match.

    Sorry for the late response.

We just got a new coach and this was just the second game under him, so it's hard to say what our style is as it's changing at the moment. But under our last coach, there definetely wasn't much individual skill on display.

but we are hoping to build a solid team, and then see what happens.

Yes, it is... Hungarian, however, is along the same lines, in that it really has no comparable language. There is nothing like it. Once I get back from Germany in September, I will concentrate on learning Hungarian more.

Hungarian is quite difficult. I learned a bit when I was younger so I could converse with my grandmother on a rudementary level. She passed sometime ago and when I went to Budapest last year I was amazed at how many of the words came back to me, however the grammar did not. As for the Hungarian national team all I say is my dad is grew up with Puskas and Kocsis, so he's not impressed. The people I talked to over there were not very positive.

    Euro '08

    Hi,

I'm a Hungarian-American and wanted to drop in with some comments/questions on the national team....

    1) The group draw for Euro '08 qualifying looks very manageable, is it unrealistic to thing that the Hungarians can qualify for their first major tourney since '86?

    2) I don't know much about the new manager, other than he is the son of a legend. What is the general feeling on him, since I don't get much Hungary news here.

    3) Am I remembering right, or did Hungary and Austria look to co-host the European Championship at some point. How come Switzerland and Austria got the bid?

    4) I missed the national team when they played Mexico in Phoenix pre-World Cup. Where can I find a national team schedule to see when/if the team will return to the USA for a friendly?

Eljen! (my weak attempt at Hungarian-just one generation removed!)

    Re: Euro '08

    szia,

    to your questions

    1) knowing our team and following its performances closely since 1986, I must say that it is in fact unrealistic, but there is always hope.
2)the feeling on him is not that good, he seems to pick too many players from clubs he has been coach before without them players being NT material.
3)hungary and croatia look to co-host the euro 2012
    4) as I told you via PM

    üdv,

    sanyi

Where do you get the Hungarian food from, home made? Not many Hungarian restaurants around NY/NJ anymore.

Hey all I'm new to these boards but was wondering which Hungarian club team competes in any of the major Euro leagues. The last time I was in Hungary was two years ago and was lucky enough to see Szekesfehervar play Man United when Beckham was still there. They split the series but nothing matched the excitement of the first game when we won 2-1 or maybe 2-0? over Man U.
