I am a HSV fan and must admit when I first heard Toppmoller had been name manager I was apprehensive. Toppi time at Leverkusen did not breed confidence, taking the team from contenders to the relagation zone was scary, but football amnagers like players either fit in or things go very poor. My man Magath for example has worked wonders at Stuttgart, but prior to that he had a reputation as a manager who could only rescue teams from relagation, and then sputter. I would like to hear what you fans of the mighty Bundesliga think of Toppi and his chances to make his statement a reality. I believe he can, but the team seems to ebb and rise from year to year. Lastly has anyone heard of any movement of USNT players to the Bundesliga, I think it is the Bundesliga is where our NT players need to go to begin to hone their skills. HSV forever.
In THIS current season? No way HSV can make the Uefa-Cup place. I haven´t seen a single convincing game by HSV the last 5 month. In summer I rated them place 3 or 4, but now I think they should be lucky with 11. But wait... he said we fighting for Uefa Cup place, now that´s a different story. I´ll say he won´t win this fight. My opinion
I think it's too early to write them off from achieving a UEFA Cup place - the season's not halfway finished. HSV is a team that really needs this winter break to put their heads back together and apply it to where they need to go. I think they'll do very well after the break and go on to finish at least 8th, hopefully better. For the most part, this is the same team that finished in the top half of the table last year, so chalk it up to a poor start - it's hard to dig yourself out, but there's still plenty of time and now a little rest. As far as US Nats are concerned, I wish more of them would make moves to the Bundesliga. Not as many work permit restrictions like in the EPL and it's a much underrated league. It can do wonders for our players and I hope more end up there.
